Not to be a downer, but we as a group need to be better at identifying rockfish.

I saw five yelloweyes kept over the weekend and also saw a guy walking around with a big ass canary head that I think he pulled out of the fillet station waste. How bad would that suck to get a ticket for a piece of a fish that you didn't even catch?

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

There was also that guy, that caught a sanddab and thought it was a halibut!  :smt044

Some folks really need to take a look at the regulations on size limits as well.  It's discouraging and makes us look bad as a group to hear people ask over the radio about size limits for lingcod, cabezon, and greenling multiple times every day.  Size limits are not complicated regulations, and it's not like they're buried in some obscure corner of the regulations booklet.  There's no excuse to not know the size limits for your target fish.

Take a sharpie and write the species and minimum length on the back of your hog trough so you will have them.

Thank you both, Dustin and Chris, for bringing these points into the thread.  I am seriously considering having a test on the application requiring knowledge of species attributes and size limits.  I may also add notice of very strict enforcement on DQ's for showing a disregard for learning the regulations prior to fishing (or showing up at Shelter Cove ever!).  I take this very seriously, and I frankly don't want anyone at GS who is ignorant of the rules of the species they're pursuing or that they may bycatch.

Now back to the fun:  I got these ab pearls out of my Hike and Dive buhloney.   :smt001

Thanks for being "the downer", Guys - I can't be that guy every time!   :smt005

Great weekend with the NCKA Family indeed.  :smt002  Thanks to Eric for bringing us all together time and time again to enjoy the deep and powerful energy that Shelter Cove has to offer.  So many great memories that will last a lifetime.  Such great people to fish and hear stories from.  So many laughs and hugs and cheers all weekend long.  Cant wait to do it all over again next year  :smt003

On the water shots....

Sunday Andy and I checked out what the locals call "Dead Man's" which is a sweet walk along the cliffs of the cove to where the there is a gully you can walk up and camp at.  Really cool spot to hang out at.
