thanks Rich!  The chocolates always seemed to be a bit more boxy, squared off to me.  I'm no lab expert whatsoever, but they really seen like a substantially different dog than the black ones esp.  Whites strike me as kind of in the middle.  Or am I just making all this up?

Chocolates are wild and nuts. Personal experience here.

Bushy,

two different kind of labs, English and American Field. English are the squatter, blocky, mellow, dopey ones . American Field are the long-legged, hyper, smart ones...

Ducks or birds, that's how my old man always put it.

Make sure you ping me before Pepper goes to golden gate lab rescue...

From my experience, Choco's tend to be more "hyper" than a black or yellow.  We adopted a choco from a Search & Rescue training facility in Hollister about 18 years ago.  They said they don't normally take in choco's due to the "hyper" in 'em & the "lesser" ability to focus on tasks like S&R.  They prefer Blacks & Yellows.

A year ago Christmas, we adopted two Lab's from the golden Gate Lab Rescue; 1 Black & 1 Yellow (8 & 10 years old now).  If you are looking for a Lab in need of a GOOD home, I can put you in touch with them or check them out at http://www.labrescue.org/  They have a fairly stringent adoption process but well worth it!!!

Yes and yes!  I agree on both little paragraphs!   I'm glad you adopted older dogs!  What a great way to PIF to some really cool pups!

This is Summer (yellow)

   Winter is our Black

They have been together for 8-years so we couldn't see them being separated when they came up for adoption.  And yes, they came pre-named.

I've had litters of Blacks and Blonds. I think you've meet most of these since we go back a little. Here's my trusty Bella and Daisy making sure my toe jams don't escape. Notice that I have had litters of both Blacks and Blonds for the reasons mentioned. Browns to me have a lot shorter attention span.
These dogs will get up when I do unless told not to. They aren't couch loungers,  not to say they don't sneak kisses from us well sitting on the couch. Labs are very loyal and very attentive. Put them in the field and they seem to have a natural ability to flush and pause.Need to be trained not to lead and they'll stay be your side all their lives.
Was 21 yrs old when I got my first Lab 62 now so I am just a little partial to them. Oh have trained my Daughters Lab to be very protective. You remember Jake? Black bruiser and very intimidating.

Hat's off to the OP for making a difference - surely there must be many great homes among NCKA for this guy.
