Hello, my name is Howard Suzuki. I go by modrealtor as you might guess, I'm a commercial agent from Modesto, California. I sold my CABO 216 and always wondered if this old fart can learn a new method of fishing. Some of my friends fish from a kayak and seem to enjoy the challenge. I've been looking for a used Hobie Pro but looking for recommendations from members here. Since I weight between 180-200 pounds not sure what length and if the model I'm thinking of is to much for a novice. What ever model I purchase in the near future, I would like to load it on my 2004 Z-71 Tahoe. I've seen few units but not sure what would be better for a old guy (64). Thanks and look forward to being a member.

Hey Howard good to see you over here.   You know my choice ( outback) I also have the Revo .  Either one would be fine and could fit on your rig.  The pro angler is very nice just a little to big to carry around, especially for us older guys.  Enjoy the ride....

Whats up Howard!
Never too old to learn a new way of catching fish. Careful though, it can become pretty addicting!
If you want pedal power, look for Hobie Outback or Revolution.
If you want to paddle, there are a LOT of choices.

Hi Pat. Dang two members I know here. Jerry said much the same as you. I think I would like the peddle style as it more my lazy Ass style of fishing lately. I guess some come with paddles also. Anyway, I really like the way the seat is constructed on the pro model as it would be easier for me to get in and out. I like the leaning post option also. It will help me stay stable on my feet. Who said getting older and waiting for the Golden ages was fun. Who ever said that is full of S#$t. My most concern is loading the unit on top of my Tahoe. I saw a few which looked good but sure they are really expensive. As far as over all weight, I could strip the seat and other equipment out prior to loading and place in the back of the Tahoe. I need to see and touch one to figure out what is best for me.

The Hobie Pro Angler is not gonna be easy to transport on top of your Tahoe. Too heavy & awkward. You have to get a trailer or slide it in the bed of a truck (or perhaps a Tahoe w/the back doors open.
Now that I think about it, there's another FSF kayak guy who has a Pro Angler! He's Kevin fish junky and he fishes with Kokoloco a lot. I think they fit both yaks in the bed of Dodge Ram.

Other kayaks with plush seats include the Ocean Kayak Predator or Big Game. Along with the Jackson Cuda.

Thanks Pat. Sent a message to Kevin on Fullspeed for his take also. I'll check the others you recommended.
