I initially had trouble posting these pictures up back in August, so I shelved it. Just resized them all, so here it is.
My brother and I have long been talking about going up to Prince of Wales Island, riding bikes around, and living off the land. In July, we finally set out to do that. We  spent 5 days on POW before mostly running out of roads, and realizing that the salmon were still staging outside the rivers due to lack of rain. A local couple took us in for a night and shared their bounty of coho and Pacific halibut. We were hoping to try seal - which some locals are allowed to hunt - but didn't get the chance.

We caught a few pinks and saw a bear, two experiences that define an Alaska trip. So at that point we decided to cut our losses, fly back to Seattle and ride home. The 946 miles took us 11 days, with several over 120 miles. The Leggett climb was a long one. We took the coast the whole way, with the exception of the Lost Coast region, which took us inland for a few days. No fishing or diving on the way down, but it was fun scouting new locations way up in Mendocino.

Sorry it took so long to post up. Enjoy, and Happy Holidays everyone!
Andrew

Apparently seal is incredible. We were bummed we didn't get to have any, although the people up there are very generous, and if we'd stayed longer, we probably would have been given a jar of it.

Oh, and did I mention the tailwinds going down the coast? Absolutely incredible tailwinds. We hit straight stretches in Oregon where we found ourselves coasting uphill at around 15MPH. Hence the 100+ mile days! If you ever do this trip, ride south, not north!

What an amazing journey you two! Thanks for taking us along. Was the MLPA shot at Stewarts?

Yep. Fisk Mill, but the Stewart's reserve.
Glad you enjoyed it Craig!

That sounds amazing.
If I could bike that far, I would definitely do this. It sounds really fun, but difficult
