Pretty Good Start for a Thursday…

 Thanks Again to Dan for getting us into show and Thanks to Tim ( Dale Shark ) for getting us set up and hanging all day barking the raffle…

Talked to Mom's of vets deployed, who are married to military men who quite easily starting talking about how concerned they are about their sons and how they are changing….

 How much they want them to participate in what were doing…  other's talked to me about how their sons are back,  but not doing well…

Then there was the 40ish recently retired 25 year career Army Guy,,,  Deployed 8 times… full of Thank you's for what were doing.  I asked him how he was doing…  " Fine…"  Great to be out"…  "ya" I replied… " but how are you doing…?"

He looked at me, and well,  PTSD knows PTSD ( I have DX of PTSD ),,,  he then gives a sigh…

" My wife wants leave me and I'm mad at the world,  but I'm fine… I can handle it…  I Just keep it inside and deal…."

I replied… " Let's go fishing…"    was able to get him my card, but he would not sign up… it was a balance not to overwhelm the situation, but to try and let him know, were here to help.  Kinda hard to get that sincere message across when it's clear he was in a world of hurt…

At least we were able to talk,  he took the card, and on some level, we had a understanding that HOW wanted to help… he said he would call...

 It seemed like most of the day was talking about a vet out there that could use our help,  which is all I could hope for,  but it's intense having people open up so quickly…

Again,  once they start talking,  it's hard to get a word in,  all good and just listen,  but try to stay on tract to at least get them to take some action on signing up to volunteer so at least we have their contact info to follow up…

Howdy! 
2013 was a good year for HOW. Y’all continue to kick some tail and push the program forward. Now easier to find sponsors and folks excited about what y’all do around the country. And you probably have a lot more folks saying “we've heard about y’all” – or “you all” J.  And mainly more warriors served. Troops in seats.
We've had a few recent events that stress the importance of what we do and why we need passionate folks helping. One potential vet committed suicide before we could get him out and another was saved by our HOW folks. The need is massive and we need everyone helping. This is not a hobby. It is a cause and we all need to do our best to serve in our communities.

Head to Gate D,,,  exhibitors parking…  park around the D5 area and we will find your pass,  I'm getting there around 11 and not staying tomorrow over night…  I think Dan is going home too,  but will probably be sleeping over night there Saturday night...
