So I have an automotive shop and Smog machine... We calibrate the smog unit every 3 days with Cal gas that comes in bottles that are designed to not be refillable... Usually they are just tossed out. I took one and cut it in half then put holes along the bottom to let in air. I used a fire log for fuel cut in half... (the cheap ones tend to smoke black and smell) Burned well and warm! Easy to toss in a bag in the trunk with the fire log inside for the Prep-per in all of us. Back yard too!!! Cold river bank... Giving these for Christmas this year to my Kids that camp...

my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

That's cool Ron!

At first I thought that was a little 1# propane bottle cut in half.  Was wondering how you cut an "empty" propane bottle in half.  I'm assuming the stuff that is in those Cal bottles in non-flammable then?

I still like that little alcohol stove idea.

Ya, non flammable gas... Thick metal to hold 200 psi... Run out Quick to the local smog shop and get your own before it goes Viral :smt044 and they are all gone!!! With a plasma cutter, think of the cool art you could cut into the sides!!!!

All it needs is a shopping cart mount & you can give 'em away to the homeless.

Nice Ron, if you want step up the game and go bigger the inner washing machine steel tubs work great as well. Weld on a couple uni-strut legs/feet and you're good to go.

Bigger is not always better... This is for small space camping. Could leave it in the car year round... Tried it with charcoal and WOW absolutely blazing hot!!!! When I get my tee-pee done. Gonna use one to heat it...

Let me explain something to you. Um, I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

I found MIG to be the easiest, though I learned on TIG.  Stick is the least expensive to buy if you are looking for a little home unit.

What about a bigger one...

I wonder if you cut it a little lower, ad more holes higher up on the side all the way around. Take the top section you removed, cut off the very top of it, flip it and insert into the main body. If it worked it would make a great stove to bring and wok/fry up some fish right on the beach or camping. No need to bring the bottle and burner.

Hmmm, tried it with the same basic design as the picture.... Didn't wok :smt003 (work)... Did you get that off the Internet or is is your concept? The bottom would need to be convex so fuel would not pool in center of bottom, but to the outside. If I can find a way to do this I will try it but it might be beyond my level of interest in the project :smt044 :smt044 :smt044 Copy the aluminum can a little closer :smt005
