Oh yeah...almost forgot.
MATT, I know you've been researching & looking for a thresher the past year. So I want to give you the lure that caught my shark. When we get together this May for rockies, I'll hand it over. Like a passing of the torch. It's been in my tackle box as a good luck charm for years.

 :smt048

Pat, you are THE MAN!!!  Thank you.

YT, WSB, and a Thresher would be my trifecta.  And believe me trolling a Rapala IS in my game plan.

Sooo excited!

Bait tube worked great for me (thanks Al). It even kept squid alive for a few hrs at a time. So I don't know if a bait tank is really necessary.

Yeah, not necessary, but if you have one, bring it.  I wouldn't go out and buy/make one if you don't already have one and wouldn't normally use it.  Having used bait tubes in the past, and now using a livewell, I will say the bait stays much fresher in a livewell.  And sometimes a hot bait makes all the difference in the world.

BTW, don't mix squid and fin bait.  The squid will just kill the fin bait.  And if you have squid die in your tank, rinse it out real well before adding new bait.  Last year I had some squid die in the tank over lunchtime (pump was turned off).  When I relaunched, I just dumped them out, turned on the pump and took on a scoop of fresh squid.  They all died within minutes.  I'm guessing the dead squid left the tank toxic to fresh ones.

For the live bait how about A bait bucket with A aerator on it? This is all I have...

I  might have an extra bait tube if you want to use it.

I believe they would cater to the call of bait needed if you radioed them. I have a live well but trying to keep things simple so I think I'll just bring a bait tube and hang with the live well guys  :smt003

Yes, they do cater to the call of bait, but from last years experience, by the time you get the bait, it is not in the best shape.  They just dump it in a cooler with water and run it out to you.  But you may not be the first on on the run.  If you're the last one, what you get is beat up and 1/2 dead.  The best way to ensure you have the best bait is to take a fresh scoop with you as you launch from the boat.  Then dump your tank and take on a fresh scoop any time you are near the boat.  Don't worry about running out of bait, there is plenty of it.

There's nothing worse then getting slammed, losing your bait, and trying to get another bait down as fast as possible, only to find out that your bait tube is empty!

So +1 on grabbing new bait as often as possible.

So my bait tube is made of 2" ABS and is 2 feet long. Is that going to cut it, or should I make a bigger one?
