I can't believe so many of us are irked by the thought of newbies showing up to fish with us.  Sure noone wan't to babysit, but still...  all of us were newbies at some point.

My first time in the ocean on a kayak there was a shark attack, I froze my ass off, no VHF, cheap Walmart pfd, shorts... I was a mess but I learned from everyone there that day.

I don't think that is the point.  It's not newbies, because many of us enjoy hanging with newbies.  It's more the unknown.  It's kind of humorous ... the difference between known and unknown is registering and a few posts.  It doesn't take much.

But that's human nature.  Making things a little bit personal goes a long ways.

Understood.

It's just that it was such a godsend to me to find you all when I was green...  of course I lurked a bit, learning all I could- especially hookups and fishing reports to understand what areas are doable on a yak...  before posting and PM'ing and showing up at the beach.  Everyone should have that same opportunity, IMO.

I  like seeing the hook-up post and the results in the same thread in the same section as all the other fishing reports.

Bingo.  I like that too.  When I set up NWKA, that's the way we did it there.  Hookups and reports in the same thread.  I like seeing the continuity of a hookup, the planning for the hookup, and the report on the hookup in the same thread.

Maybe we just do that here.  Do away with the current hookups board and use the members only reports and public reports for both hookups and reports.

The only problem with that is what if you sneak out at the last minute, where do you post a report to let your brothers know where the hot bite is ?, I'm sure there are peeps here that don't post hook-ups but like to brag a little  :smt002, I could PM everyone in Shasta/ Tehama county and not get anyone to join me during the week, so I try to post a hook-up to catch others in the area to go out with a local with some knowledge ( ? )
Remember to practice safe knots, because big fish don't just break your line, they also break your heart.

I don't see a problem.  Just post up the report only.
