I will bring my cleaning kit for those with new guns.

My breaking in process for a new rifle. No expert, just what I do:
Load and Fire 1 round. Clean.
Load and Fire 2 rounds. Clean. (Also full auto check)
Load and Fire 1 round. Clean.
Load and Fire 1 round. Clean.
Load and fire at will.

Clean before going home if using corrosive ammo with anti corrosive solution (water or Hoppes #9).
@home full cleaning and strip down.

I have no evidence that it makes a difference in accuracy or barrel life but that is what my grandpa taught me to and it is my tradition and tribute to him.

I was actually taught differently.

We were told to clean and re-oil the rifle arm prior to initial firing; the oil they put on the metal to protect it is alot thicker/gummier and tends to prevent the bolt action from cycling properly.

And for ARs, they are wet rifles, they like oil....

Other than that, normal cleaning after each use...

Sounds like I will try and make this too. Will bring my receipt so I can shoot free! Need to break in this new gun. Does anyone have any Seahawk targets, it will be much easier to concentrate on the goal! :smt005

I wouldn't post that on the public forum. Trade mark infringement issues. It is very cool tough.

Can a newbie join?  I bought a box of 22 ammo from the first hookup that I can bring.  I don't have any guns.

Nate,

You are welcome to shoot any of mine.  Right now I think I will be bringing a .22 rifle, .22  and a .45 handgun.  I can't speak for the rest of the NCKA militia, but I'm pretty confident you won't have any trouble finding others who are more than willing to let you try out their guns  :smt002

You can shoot some of my guns Nate. See if you can come across some 9mm,45acp, and 223's to help replenish what I am bringing. :smt002
