how do you get a sponsor for this event i don't want to miss out on this one

All the details for registration will come out in a thread here in very early January.  It's not hard to get a sponsor.  All you need is someone who has attended in the past who will vouch for your character and agree to intervene if you are involved in any kind of dispute, altercation or other conflict.  It's based on an issue that came up at GS6 where someone was too drunk and caused a scene and then the next day ended up getting in too close to the reef requiring help from other members, one of which endo'd and lost a bunch of gear due to it.  The perp bailed the scene and left the Cove early.  Later online here he was called out, nearly lynched, given a chance to apologize, brought what many considered weak sauce, and was banished....

Anyway, just having the sponsorship program seems to be enough of a reminder to all that we're representing each other to some extent, so there is definitely an air of love and cooperation at the event, in the campground, OTW, on the beach...etc., and the sponsorship program will go on as a symbol of our commitment to treat each other and others around our group with patience and respect at all times.  Thx   :smt001

I wonder if the bear is still in the area.
When I returned to the Cove last August, I heard from someone at the campground that the bear was shot.  No confirmation on this, just what I heard.  That bear was certainly becoming a problem, but the situation could've been handled in a way that didn't involve shooting him/her.

So, I just showed my wife the video of the dolphin show at the Cove, she says she would love to go next time - I figure OK, I will take her to GS8 - we can get a house with some friends. I find a good one, on the water side, 3 bedrooms - cool!

I'm excited, I'm ready to book this house! I look at the calendar for the rental, it's available! Wife walks by as I sit at the kitchen table with laptop, asks what I am planning - I know she's gonna love this!

I tell her we are going to Shelter Cove for nice long weekend and fishing event in May, she looks at me funny, asks: "Which weekend?" I tell her. She says: " We will be at our daughter's college graduation that day!"

Excuse me while I sob here   :smt009   :smt010

I am really proud of my daughter and her accomplishment,  :smt007. . . . but why, oh why THAT weekend?
