I think the image was actually the logo & sticker of NCKA at that time.

Joel gave me a sunset sticker (that now graces my fishing logbook) to get the image and colors right.
The piece was originally a gift to Bill from Joel, to honor him for creating the site. Bill gave it to Joel when he moved to TX, since it was more about Joel by then anyway.
I don't hold any claim to the image at all (other than rendering it beautifully :smt002)

This is why I came to NCKA! Thanks PISCEAN my faith has been restored. Your art is one of my favorite pieces.

Mine are not for sale, I just thought it would be a nice thing to do for Joel's friends so they can have something in their garden to remember him by for years to come.

This discussion is about the image that Glenn created, not about what inspired it. The creator of the image simply asked that the image be used in a positive way, and that you inform him before making an assumption that it is free to exploit. I don't think he's asking too much. It's the same as the NCKA logo, the owner just wants to protect the integrity of his image.

Agree. What I was saying is that someone could create their own art and caption it with "Mooch Strong" and that would not be a copyright violation.

You are correct, and I would hope that that person would have the same respect for the subject to defend its integrity.

Bla, whatever... Glen so be it... You have the responsibility,(regardless of copyright claims")  The art work predates claims of origin. Even modified. Still predates claim. Thanks for watching out for Mooch and his family since I know that is your intent, and I'll give you a jingle if I ever intend to use it. You can take pictures of my mug if ya want anytime (I'm not responsible for equipment failure though) :smt005

Andy play nice with the other children...

Glen don't rise to the bait...

Love ya's brothers....

This is just a hypothetical example: if there is more than 10% negligible difference between the original art and Glen's art, then it is now a new image that Glen created. He would own that image. And therefore he could copyright it--which would prevent anybody else from using it without his permission.

It sounds like Glen just wants to make sure nobody profits off his image (that's reasonable; and in-line with WWMD). I will take his word that he does not intend to profit personally from using or allowing-others to use the image.

This reminds me of a typical socal argument. We better than that!

So, if you want to use Glen's image---ask him first (and don't use it for personal profit). But the other side of the coin is equally true--if you recreate your own image, then you do not need permission to use it & you can do whatever you want with it. But if someone ever tried to get rich off of Mooch's name then they would be due for some seriously bad karma.

Not sure where you get the 10% difference.  I don't think that is the legal def.

No matter.  The original Mooch silhouette was the NCKA logo.  As such I own that.  And as you are all my witnesses, I grant the rights to Glen to use it in the 2 images he created as HE sees fit, and to extend those rights (and retract those rights) to others regarding those 2 images as HE sees fit.

If that's not enough, then just show a little Bro courtesy and RESPECT his wishes.

Geez!  Move along everyone ...

Please leave your camera at HOME at ANY of our next chills! THANK YOU!

Just dont' show up when I have my camera out...

Wow, where's this coming from.....
Question: The paddling image of Joel (silhouette) was first done in 2005 predating membership to NCKA by those making claims. WWJD "What Would Joel Do" or am I in violation of the original meaning of "What Would Jesus Do". Confusing!  :smt012
Btw, Sean, that piece is unbelievable! You da man bruddah!
