After our touching event for Joel I was told by my wife how much we missed being at NCKA functions. Also got a couple of light hearted elbows about where I've been. Another member made a nice appeal that I reinstate my membership.
So here we are again.
Last July I went through open heart surgery. No heart attack I just didn't fill right so I got checked at the V.A. Palo Alto which confirmed my suspicions, blockage to my heart. They found three areas that needed attention so on the 18th I was scheduled for the procedure.
I didn't come to conciseness however, until the 28th or ten days later. Awake and confused I woke up hearing someone struggling to breath. Well having a private room in ICU I realized that it was me and that I had tubes coming from almost every orifice of my body. Scary!
Diana informed me not to talk and that I had been struggling with a virus since leaving  my successful O.R. visit. With my body temp raging I was kept in a induced comma for the last ten days. And that I was on oxygen to keep me breathing.
Ten days later I left ICU and soon was visited by our friend Joel. Or Jo-el as his Mom called him. Joel was sitting at the foot of my bed smiling and asking if I was hungry. Afraid that he might roll out some of his homemade Goldilocks Lumpia I said NO! My first words to him were; "What did you think that I was going to beat you to heavens gate!" We laughed for a couple of hours during his visit which was Joel's way, making others comfortable.
God I miss that trouble maker!
So here I am back in the fold of NCKA where I have met so many like natured people as Joel.
Not released to paddle yet but seeing the flotilla during the memorial made me want too.
Thank You, frankfishing

Frank,
I was glad to see  and talk to you and Diana on the boat that day and at the hall.
Was very lucky and grateful to be able to catch that boat ride that day. It was AWESOME.
Take care .

I still recall some nice days on the SMC fishing with you Frank. You're part of the club no matter what.

Glad to see you back on the boards!
