After a good salmon season, a freezer load of yellow tail from Mexico and the one albacore trip the doctor tells me not to eat another bite of fish the rest of the year.  I guess I've got enough mercury in me for 5 people.

Yea Batt, what was the reason for the diagnosis??
Sorry to hear this.
I can offer a helping hand by taking some of that 'crap' off your hands.  :smt002
Seriously though, how did you discover you had that much mercury in your system?
How much fish were you eating a week?
How long until you are merc free?
This is good info to share with the rest of us.

I was eating a lot of big fish and asked the Dr. for a mercury test.  He said it wasn't necessary but I insisted.  When the results came back he told me to stop eating fish and to have my wife get tested.   My results by the way were 13ng/ml and I believe the cutoff was 11.

I cut back, way back, and changed the types of fish I ate.  Rock fish are high in Hg so I didn't eat much of them, but I ate tuna and salmon, sardines and even small (legal sized) ling cod, blues.

A year later I'm normal and back to eating fish.  I just don't eat a whole ling by myself or a bunch of Chinas.

Sorry to hear that.  You worked (played) so hard this year and had some quality catches.  Share if you feel like it.

Scary sorry to hear that.  I should get a mercury test.  I know I have eaten more than my share of fish this year.

I've been eating fish a couple times a week.  Especially the YT lately but salmon and rockfish all summer.  Now with a big load of albacore to eat I asked the Dr. for a mercury test to be included on my yearly physical.  No apparent ill effects yet but at 30ng/ml, oops.

Hope you don't have to wait very long to get back to eating fish again.
