Sorry for the threadjack, but I couldn't resist the play off of "I ate my bait" with "I ate my butt".

Caught off a PB yesterday (thanks Art!) west of Santa Cruz at the edge of the kelp.  We had finished off rockfishing (3/4 limits of nice blacks) and decided to do a few drifts for butts, so headed in shallower to give it a go.  10 minutes later, she gave us a visit.  I love it when a plan comes together!

It's all good !                    Always nice to catch a halibut,,,  too bad it wasn't on a kayak.

Mooch,,,   great post from days of old  :smt044 :smt044         I  cleaned and  cut the heads off.   after fillet, it's all good solid meat.  Not at all what I'd expected.
