Sorry for the threadjack, but I couldn't resist the play off of "I ate my bait" with "I ate my butt".

Caught off a PB yesterday (thanks Art!) west of Santa Cruz at the edge of the kelp.  We had finished off rockfishing (3/4 limits of nice blacks) and decided to do a few drifts for butts, so headed in shallower to give it a go.  10 minutes later, she gave us a visit.  I love it when a plan comes together!

  It's all good !                    Always nice to catch a halibut,,,  too bad it wasn't on a kayak. 

         Mooch,,,   great post from days of old           I  cleaned and  cut the heads off.   after fillet, it's all good solid meat.  Not at all what I'd expected.

I didn't evolve my way to the Top of the Food Chain to eat the same thing my prey eats...

some of my favorite fish to eat are sardines on the grill, and fried anchovies.
