So it has been about 5 days since I first posted up that Gino needed our help and all I can say is WOW NCKA is like nothing I have ever been apart of in my life.  All it took to get Gino the help he needed was to pretty much just let it be known one of our brothers needed some support and everyone came together and made it happen. VERY IMPRESSIVE

But before I made the first post I PM'd Big Jim for some guidance to give me some direction.  So I want to say thank you Jim you were a huge help.

So along with getting everyone's support on the direct donations to Gino that totaled $700+ we also had a MBF - Fnc out at the Port of Sac this morning.  We had a total of 16 anglers go out and try their hand it some fishing.  Some were able to get fish and others were not so lucky.  But I believe everyone had a great time just being part of a special event. It was a $20 buy-in for the MBF and it raised $320 which was split with the 1st place angler who was none other than Adam Koons ATD with a total of 366 point for 3 fish.  Adam went ahead and split the pot giving $80 back to the pot and was awarded a brand new TFO rod for his generosity. Ricci Fishworks pulled out 2nd with a 311.38 with 3 fish.  NEWBIE Eric TxboyESR rounded out the podium at 3rd with a total of 250.5 points for 2 fish.  RacinRob was just behind the NEWBIE with 250.49 points.

We also did a raffle that raised a whopping $885 between PayPal purchases and people buying tickets at the event.  The raffle was a great success and was full of great prizes that were donated by individuals and different companies.  I would like to say thanks to everyone who donated their personal belongings for the raffle. I would also like to give a special thanks to Dan from Headwaters Kayak for a great donation of kayak wheels, lip grips, rocket launchers, & a NCKA fish trough. Another local company that stepped up was Adventure Sports in Sacramento who threw a Mini Wheeleez into the raffle.  This was a great prize.  None of this would have been possible with out all of you.

Oh ya we also CHILLED… Can’t be a true NCKA event with out some chilling going on after coming off the water ya know what I mean…  I brought a huge bowl of fish taco’s Rider style, Tim (daleshark) hooked it up with multiple flavors of smoked sausages (the bomb), Mike (cawingshooter) brought the chicken wings which must have been good as I didn’t get any.  There was BEER drank as well…

After everything was said and done at the event I called Gino to tell him how we did and I asked him to guess how much we raised.  He said “$350” and I was so happy to tell him from the MBF & raffle we raised a whopping $1,205.00.  I think he was pretty surprised and was a little speechless at the generosity of everyone.

So when all is said and done we should be right around $2,000 raised for Gino in just 5 DAYS.  Just before writing this I saw he posted that HE WILL NOT BE SELLING HIS YAK!!!  MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

Gino,
While I know the pain you are going through please know that you have the support of everyone at NCKA and together we can get through anything.  See ya OTW Bro…

NCKA is like nothing I've ever been a part of as well James. Most die hard fishermen are kind of lone wolves, especially since we are kayak fishermen. Its a funny thing I've noticed that even us who are good friends, put in together and maybe fish a little together but eventually split up to find our own piece of water to fish and then come back together after the day is done.

After being a part of NCKA for the short amount of time that I have, it isn't surprising to see the results that came about. Props go out to the NCKA bros and sisters who were a part of it, but Rider made the effort and put in the time to make it happen. You rock James! Thank You.

WTG NCKA!
What a great event at the Port today to benefit a brother!
An awesome bunch of anglers launched to perfect conditions and paddled, partied, and fished for a good cause.
A topwater bite started off the day for me with a number of mostly dink LMB's hitting the hair frog I was tossing with my 8wt fly rod.
I switched to sinking line and a clouser to present to deeper running fish after the sun was higher.
Ended up with a handful of of small bass and stripers, it felt good to catch fish on the fly rod again. :smt001
Congrats to the top finishers, and more importantly, congrats to all who did their part to help a brother out!
James, you are a class act bro, and your family support was awesome too!
It was great to meet some new NCKA members, and always a good time hanging with good, no great friends I see at our events!
Thanks NCKA!
