do you have any thoughts about the "bat" gaffs as opposed to the hook style?

I think I know what you mean.  Back in my commercial days I used them (far right).  I don't think this would work for me now as I'm too close to the water line, not enough upward momentum to carry the stuck fish up.  I'm off my gaffing game is all.  Trying not to feel insecure about it.   :smt003

Yup, thats the one.  I dont get as much practice as you do, but it allows me to swing down on the fish then twist the fish over.  My biggest fear is that one day I will swing down and stick it in my leg, or yak  :smt009

as to being off your game, every time I bring a butt on board its like a bomb went off.  You are Mr Cool in that regard  :smt004

Thank you.  Swimbait lures, like this.  Pick the pattern you like, they all seem to work nicely.

Thanks for the video Dan. I hope I can remember how to gaff correctly when I do get lucky and catch one of those halis.

Hi Dan,

I am interested in your kayak motor setup. Is there possible that you can show me/us some picture of how you rigged it up?

Thank you
