Matanaska (Rob) has been invited to compete in the 2013 Hobie Fishing World championship in Australia. Let's help him get there, so that he can show them how we rip lips NorCal style.

Many people have already pledged on Rob's announcement thread here: http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=49056.0, but I thought it might be good to start a thread dedicated to getting our brother to the land of thunder.  :smt003

Sledge and I got off the water early, :smt003 but by the time I got the fish cleaned and vacuumed packed and showered, I was on my way to bring fish to friends.  I was then invited to a honey harvest party where there was a potluck and lots of honey comb being spun to fill jars of honey.  It was fun and interesting.  Anyways, thanks again for the support. :smt001

My paypal account is setup under my email : [email protected]

Today I forgot bait so I started with Big hammers, but they didn't work much for me so I finally used my Lancer jigs from the 2013 ORC captains bag.  It was black and silver and it caught 4 lings up to 32", 5 blacks, and 1 quillback besides hooking and losing a few as well as losing a big one that broke it off after I caught the 32" green lingcod that frayed the braid.  I knew I should have retied.  I then used the blue and purple one on the way in and caught a few more including a ling that must have seen the the other fish in my lap at the time and went ballistic flipping back in the water after breaking the line and spitting the jig out.

I bought my ticket with my United miles last week for $118.  I also have a couple options for housesitter/dogsitter so things are coming together smoothly so far.   :smt001

I am so excited for you! My grandparents lived in Australia for about ten years.
If I lived about 6 hours closer to you, I would volunteer to dog/house sit for ya! But I do know the manager at Arcata Pet - he also knows the local dog play place up there! Let me know if you need to connect with them and I would be happy to make introductions!
