This is a link to a random picture I found online... Is it just me, or does this lingcod have a cabezon head? Pretty weird looking....

Definitely a lingcod. It has the fang-like teeth and scales, not to mention the distinctive ling mottling.

I think rigor plus camera angle exaggerates the effect = one odd hybrid looking ling.

Wonder how closely related lings and cabs are? I know we get hybrids between various bass (stripers, smallmouths, white, largemouth, spots, etc)... Wonder if it would be possible for a lingcab hybrid to exist?

Not possible for them to hybridize. Perhaps a kelp greenling / lingcod can do it though?
