I have my Elite 5 DSI transducer mounted inside the hull of my Revo and the quality sucks. But it wasn't much better when mounted directly in the water, so the degradation of imaging isn't that significant IMO. Just saying... :smt005

Śo its "transducer ready" does that actually mean it comes with a transducer? I assume other transducers would work?  I am partial to humminbird.

The one thing about this is you can read the water temp, and not how hot the water is getting in our hull
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Transducer will not be included.  It will be ready to have a Lowrance transducer bolt up to it.  Looks like someone posted pic's of H-Bird adapters.

I have an external temp cable transducer for my HB. It has another cable I run out of the hull and into a scupper hole and into the water. Reel time temp all the time. Transducer is about $60. Much better than the in hull temp.

I'm not too concerned about 1* or 2* temperature difference between inside hull and actual water temp.  I know the area where my transducer is installed (Water bath) which is up front just behind & below the mast tube, will remain very close to the actual water temp while on the water.  My OB hull isn't that thick, as to create a thermobarier enough to give false temp readings.

My dark green Tarpon will read as much as 10 degrees higher than the actual temp. Sometimes on a real hat day on the lake maybe 15. I've had some of the people I fish with tell me the water is xx degrees. Then I inform them they are way off compared to mine or an in the water install. In the ocean it does not make too much diff unless on a real sunny day then my Tarpon would read a little high again.

Does anyone know when the Lowrance ready Outbacks will be available at local shops?

Any new boats should have them. SO if your local shop is placing orders regularly they should be getting them. Are local shop has them in Morro Bay. I received my outback about 2 weeks two early for this technology, but then again, I love my Hummybird... HEHE.

My OB hull color is the sand, so it's not much of a heat sink.  I can see a dark green hull absorbing lots of heat, and getting real hot in direct sun for long periods time, but still, the part in contact with the water shouldn't heat up that bad!
