This won't be for current model yaks, just for the 2014 & newer select models.

Does anyone know when the Lowrance ready Outbacks will be available at local shops?

They will be 2014 units so I would imagine that they should start rolling out late in the year?  Might be worth a call to Hobie to find out.

Absolutely it will work for both DSI and Non-DSI.  I've been discussing with Lowrance regarding DSI in through hull applications.  While it does work through hull (yes it does, confirmed!), there is a slight signal degradation of higher frequencies due the nature of the poly material used in kayaks.  The black material used here is specially chosen to not degrade transducer signals (at any frequency).  More info when I publish the story.

I too confirm that the DSI works as a shoot through the hull.  My Elite 7 HDI (with DSI) worked great in a wet bath shooting thru the hull at HMB.  It does, slightly, degrade the signal when compared to having the transducer directly in the water.

Yeah, it's weird because there is information all over the web as well as from other pro staffers claiming that Lowrance does NOT recommend shooting DSI through hull in kayaks.  I told them the story needs to be set straight, and they did, and I will too later this week when I publish the story.  Probably should have waited to say anything until I publish the shory, but sounds like FFTC would have spilled my beans here anyways.

Honestly, I myself haven't been able to get a uniform answer from within Lowrance so I work on personal experience & a colabiration of answers gathered from various folks within Lowrance pertaining to this question.  I have found that it worked, though somewhat degraded.  How's them beans....    :smt003
