Sometimes there is no silver lining. Beware of the north point. There is a shelf right there on the outside that will lift up the swell if you aren't watching.

RIP.

Let's show up and demonstrate the spirit of the community.  By that I mean that, not knowing any details of this unfortunate event, we have an opportunity to show that overall the kayakfishing, and by extension the ocean kayaking community, does focus on safety and responsibility.

Don't worry, Craig, there will be some awesome catches for the tourney.

Thanks for the report, Al - sorry it's overshadowed by this event that occurred, but soon enough we'll be reuniting and showing the energy of NCKA to Albion and anyone who's paying attention.

Nice post Eric. Wish I could convey my feelings that way.

Body of missing kayak just recovered.
He was wearing a wet suit. First hand info from one of the rescue divers.
Rescuer did not know whether he was fishing or diving.
He had a yellow t13.
He was probably an avid diver as the license plate on his toy hauler reads DV TOY BX.
RIP Brother.
One gopher for me was it.

Sad news.
I hope the fishing picks up and wx stays calm.
See you Thursday night (I hope).

Headed out around 12:45 pm and stayed out for a couple hours. Fished around in , then I joined Tote out by the buoy. Conditions were good with very little wind. The first pic says it all for me today. Should be better tomorrow. Good times just being here.
Al

Nice and clean cooler!  :smt003  Thanks for the "live" reports from Albion guys.  My prayer for the diver and his family.

Very Sad

Maybe a moment of silence for the individual and his family.

Are we sure that it was not a NCKA member.

RIP Fellow Yakker

Sorry to hear about the kayaker's death I know that things can go from great to dangerous real fast.
R.I.P.
Let us learn from that tragedy and be more careful and continue to lookout for each others safety.

Thank you again to all the brothers that helped me back on to my kayak last year.

I trolled for salmon and got skunked, came in and mooched a nice cab and a couple of big vermillion... then I saw the helicopter and after a couple of passes I spotted the yellow kayak hung up in the kelp in the first cove north of Albion. I paddled over and flipped the swamped kayak over and begun recovering the equipment until the coasties called me off. His body was recovered shortly there after. Solemn day on the water.

Wow, what a difference. I'm seeing 15 to 20kt and a swell of 7' every 7 sec. Granted that's out to 10 nautical miles

I know a guy who won a tournament in the shittiest, dirty water I have fished in. If it wasn't a tourney I wouldn't have even got the kayak wet. Came back to event site to see some loco Petaluma local hoisting a huge ling for the win. Sound familiar? :smt003 :smt006
