Not wanting to drag this on but I feel it is important to stress safety, especially if conditions will not be ideal.
The deceased kayaker was off the north point.
Some surfers said that on Friday every 20 minutes or so a set of big swells would come through.
A somber reminder to put safety first. Stay within your limits. Live to fish and dive another day.
Don't let this be any of us.
Looking forward to everyone getting here.
Right now conditions are ideal!

Very sad about the diver. That's why our brotherhood is so great, You can count on your NCKA brothers to back you up when accidents happen or you just plain do something stupid. I remember a couple RF openers ago at SWS when a diver - let's call him Small Tim  :smt002 couldn't be found until I told some of his friends where I had just seen him having fun.  By that time the Coast Guard was coming and an and ambulance siren was getting close.  Small Tim was a bit put off, at first, that they had called the Coasties, but the important thing was his NCKA brothers cared enough to worry.
The cove at Albion can be pretty poor fishing (think HMB) especially after there have been multiple events in a short period. I don't know where else on the north coast except OC that could handle a group our size. It is what it is. As long as the weather lays done enough  to make it around either point, the fishing will be great! My Ama Sidekicks are ready on the Revo. See you Thursday

A friend of wife and mine's son was there middle of last week.  He camped right next to the guy and his wife. He said the guy went out diving every morning and back by noon.  He had his wife in camp, but went out each morning on the water alone.  On Sat, when he didn't come back in by noon, his wife didn't think too much about it.  By later in the afternoon, she reported him to authorities missing.  Friend's son left Saturday, and he said the guy still hadn't shown up, but didn't have any more details.

Sounds like that Small Tim guy should've communicated with the group better about where he planned on diving. From what I hear he has gotten better about that.   :smt002 :smt004

FISH ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is heartbreaking.

I want to echo Tote's comments. One of our best and experienced divers tried to cut the corner to make better paddling time and got rolled at that same north point during the US Nationals last year.  Fortunately, we had safety boats out and they were able to assist him right away.

As far as I am concerned, the loss of the diver/angler is sobering reminder for all of us to take extra safety precautions while OTW.

Any time, bro!

Look forward to seeing you up here buddy! At least in this tourney you don't have to worry about any photos or movie! You can feel free to kill all the fish you want to take home! You should have won GS7 but next year you will know to pre or post fish.

Remember to practice safe knots, because big fish don't just break your line, they also break your heart.
