Albion Pre-fish 2013

Headed out around 12:45 pm and stayed out for a couple hours. Fished around in the cove, then I joined Tote out by the buoy. Conditions were good with very little wind. The first pic says it all for me today. Should be better tomorrow. Good times just being here.

We are going to have to find another place to have a tournament. The camping is good. The venue is awesome. The fishing sucks from what I've seen this year. Salmon? Anyone fishing salmon Alfredo?

On a sad note. Coast Guard helicopters have been circling the cove looking for a body. I don't have confirmed details other than a kayaker went out from Albion Friday morning and didn't return. Conflicting reports about finding his kayak. Chopper circling the cove right now. Very sad.

Tote fished for salmon for a while. No luck. I've seen couple at the cleaning table.

A 1lb gopher could win a kayak.

Helicopter has been circling the north point. Fire dept arrived. They told me the body has been found. Rescue boats just arrived.

Ugh. RIP.

WoW!  That's just terrible to hear about the kayaker.  Hope you or Tote are able to gather details.  Perhaps there's a lesson for someone else from the situation that could save a future life out there. 

Any fishing recon on anyone catching is gonna be appreciated.  Thanks for your report.  Maybe I'll be bringing the light gear in order to save from being skunked. Anything is better than nothing I suppose.

Let's show up and demonstrate the spirit of the community.  By that I mean that, not knowing any details of this unfortunate event, we have an opportunity to show that overall the kayakfishing, and by extension the ocean kayaking community, does focus on safety and responsibility.

Don't worry, Craig, there will be some awesome catches for the tourney.

Thanks for the report, Al - sorry it's overshadowed by this event that occurred, but soon enough we'll be reuniting and showing the energy of NCKA to Albion and anyone who's paying attention.
