I'd love to get the collective's opinion on seating.          Seems like there's more of a demand for big and comfy seats, especially for the calmer inland waters where sacrificing stability isn't so much of an issue.

I just started testing this seat.   It raises the seating position to level with the rail, making it very comfortable to hang your legs over the side.   It is made for fishing boats , it has an all plastic frame with deep polyurethane cushioning.   Weight is close to those GTS seats that Surf to Summit has. Plus, it's MADE IN USA ( #1 criteria for all  parts that make up our kayaks. )

Only issue I see is where the side handles currently are placed.   I would have to relocate them to the top possibly.

It looks a little too high for my comfort zone in a Hobie Revo 13. They can get tippy in the swells. I'm going to be testing out my wife's air-filled J/Fit cushion pad instead of the seat that came with my kayak. That thing's a lower back killer. I like sitting on the cushion because it still sits lower in the hull and I can move without feeling the bones in my lower back crunching around. I'm sure it has to do with not having a lot of fat on my a$$.

Maybe have the bottom cushion removal so that you can use a thinner one to go lower when fishing in the ocean.  For inland lakes that high cushion would be nice and comfortable.

Yeah,,, the whole seat and base removes easily  so you can switch to the stand-by seat for ocean.    I'm not sure it's going to matter with this kayak as stable as it is.     It's so cushy, I'm thinking about replacing the chairs at the kitchen table !  :smt002          Could lose WAF points for that...  :smt044 :smt044

To be clear,,, I'm not  concerned about how it fits in other brands of kayaks.   Revo's don't have the stability of a Raptor.

I think it looks great dude.

I personally LOVED that Surf to Summit seat you loaned me with the Raptor, but for the folks that like the option of the higher seating I think this will be real popular.

Does it strap down nice and tight to the hull? Any pics of how it secures?

Nice job buddy.

I think I would love a hard seat in my "RAPTOR"...my only issue with kayak fishing is my seat moving around under my butt...Fn drives me crazy ....How much and how is it sitting sideways ?????

That seat looks SWEET on that kayak.  I like the idea of having the option to switch it out with a stand-by if needed.  Would love to demo that someday. Awesome work Jim!

Good point Jason. I think it will be great to give people the OPTION of having either a hard/high seat OR using their favorite aftermarket one (like a surf to summit).

The angle of the seat makes a big difference for me at least. The seat on the cuda is fine in the high position for a few hours but then It turns into a back killer. The seat sits flat with the deck in the high position. In the low position it's tilts back and is comfy all day.

Dude that new Camo pattern looks killer! And I think a cushy seat is a wonderful idea/addition to the Raptor. It's stable enough to compensate for the higher COG that a taller seat would create.
But I would definitely consider moving the handles to the top. In fact, I'd suggest doing that on all the Raptors. I don't think they'd be in the way of paddle stroke as much as we imagine...especially if right on top instead of along the sides. Fishin this wknd?

Oh MAN !    just met a guy for a demo paddle,  got to test that seat out for the first time.   I'm lovin it!
Customer who demo'd loves it too,    My first sale on the seat, and it's only in prototype stage.   How cool is that !

Agree with you on the handles Pat.  It has to be that way.   Only thing is they would be under your legs if sitting side-saddle...    You up for a Halibut try off  MBK ?

Just me, of course, but I prefer low profile. I don't have a big problem sitting for several hours in most standard seats. When I buy my Raptor, next year, I would prefer the standard seat, please. Offer this fancy seat as an option?
