maybe, just maybe, i might be able to run the boat this friday.  and maybe, just maybe, we could launch a couple of kayakers.  albacore are 80 miles out (and that could change by friday) , and i'm not ready for that kind of run anyway, but i would be up for a rockfish run.    i was thinking hmb to san g, then pescadero, then maybe even the lighthouse.  this would be a good trial run to work out the bugs for albacore.  i think i would like to have myself and a crew of four, with two yakkers and two to remain on board and crew.  you can switch back and forth, or we could even bring another yak.  doesn't matter to me.

here's the catch.  i don't have a way yet to stow the yaks on board.  i've got some ideas.  if any of you are up for this, i would need you to come over tonight, wednesday or thursday night with your yaks to figure out how to make this work.  weather is good, i just need to get some work done around the house, first before i'm cleared to go fish.  anyone up for this?  my cell # is 408-219-1149. post here, then give me a call.  we have alot of work to do and not much time to do it.  thanks.  alan

I would love to, but I am watching my daughters tonight and Thurs and have to work some of Friday. However, for the future, the idea has great appeal to me.

tsk, tsk, bill.  where are your priorities.  if the albacore move in close, i just might exercise captain's discretion and turn the boat due west for a couple of hours, and then drop these guys off! :smt005

I'm game for the rockfish, can't do the tuna thing. I'm leaving Friday evening for a weekend in Tahoe.
I'll give ya a ring when I go on my lunch break.

I went over to Alan's and we sized things up.

btw, alan's boat is nice. big tankwell and lots of hatches,   :smt005.

The kayaks should fit on the side of the hard top flush to the roof. easy smeazy,  :smt002

Alan should be able see under them on the sides and have a clear view out the front.

the 2" stainless tubing will be padded with pipe insulation afixed with zipties.

camlock 1" nylon tie-down straps should be sufficient to attach the kayaks to the 2" tubing
hard top structure by running through the scupper holes and around the kayak hull. yeah, I know
the scupper holes are not made for straps, but it is very convenient for transport as long
as the scupper holes don't take the majority of the force.

but mooch, you might want to bring your scupper pro in case the kayaks can't take the pounding
and disinintgrate,  :smt004. then you still got your prowler.

Alan also needs some kind of moving blankets or padding for the side of the boat or the back
depending on how the kayaks go up.  I think we can just lift them vertically right into position
with 2 guys and the straps running around the kayaks or through the scupper holes.

I'll get hold of the insulation tomorrow and some extra straps. I'll cut and attach the padding
tomorrow afternoon at Alan's place.

Alan, sorry I forgot to stick around and help you get the dustcover back in place.
