I do not have a fish finder on my yak yet.  Are most of these units sealed to survive the ocean water and possible tip overs?

Mike
Yes.

Lowrance rep at BPS said they were also going to put out an Elite 4 HDI by December...for those who like an even smaller profile.

HB
Nothing firm on that as I understand it ..... but anything is possible

It would only be a 2-way split.

I suppose this is why people don't ask me questions....
Let me explain something to you. Um, I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

I have a 7ah & can run a few days on my Elite 7 hdi.  It draws a fraction of an amp/hr.

I run the same (7ah on an Elite 7 HDI).  Went camping labor day weekend and it ran for four 8-hour days without recharging. Still had juice when I had to head home.

I'm not sure how you guys are getting such long run times from an Elite 7 HDI.  The stated current draw on those units is 1.1 Amp typical.  That's a pretty average current draw for fishfinders with 7" displays and GPS.  I would think a 7 Ah battery would be toast before an 8 hour day is up.

I believe the Elite 7 runs @ .3A nominal & .8A max.  Not sure about the transducer question.  They have dedicated P/N's for the package with & w/o the transducer.  I believe they will be using the same transducer that they have used for the 7" version but I will update if I find out differently.

The Specifications Page on the Lowrance Web site lists 'Current Drain Typical .75A'   (Elite 7) & 1.1A for the new Elite 5 HDI .... :smt102

My Lowrance Gen2 HDS 9 Touch Screen only draws 1.2a but not an issue on a boat carrying 4 batteries :smt003

The Operations manual specifically states 1.1.  Are we taking about the same model?  Got a link to the specifications page?

Either way.   That's not going to run for 4 full days on a 7 Ah battery.
