My GF's nephew is home from college for the summer. Between working 40hrs a week and doing summer school on top of that he mentioned he really wanted I join me otw to do some Fishin. I haven't been out in over three weeks due to other obligations. Knowing that he doesn't have a kayak and I my fishing feelers weren't picking anything up for Monterey I debated whether I should take him today. I set my selfishness aside and figured what the hell the kid works hard, I've caught my fair share this season already and I could (more like most likely) have a future Fishin buddy to go out with. He started out like me today and rented his first kayak from MBK. They opened at 8:30am and that's super late for me considering Im otw by 5:30-6 every time I go out. I told myself No worries. We'll hook somethin before the wind and drift picks up. Paddled out towards some old waypoints and dropped down.  Not 15 mins into bouncin and Andrew (the nephew) is hooked into a ling! Mind you this is his first time fishing with a bait caster. He did great! It's up to the side of the trident 4.3 and an underling. Back down she went to grow bigger. The look on his face was priceless. Then it was my turn. Then it was his turn and on it went until he finally hooked a decent ling. That puppy made a few runs on him and I think he was in shock the entire time. I was proud that he hooked a good one on his first day out and even more proud that he hooked the biggest one. Switched between the normal BB's and 7 1/2" scamps. Kept three lings. one black and nice sun burn. I knew I should've picked up that Simms sun rag from California Fly Shop while I was there yesterday.  Anyways I hope y'all had a great weekend and I'm bummed I had to miss PIF. Next year.

Thanks guys! It's been 24 hrs for Andrew (the nephew) and the madness has set in. The report today is that he's driving his mom absolutely bonkers. Seems he has a slight addiction now lol I warned him the day before we hit the water.
