I hooked up with my buddy Jaime Rendon on Friday the 5th. He is owner and captain of Dr. Pescado Sports Fishing.  I've been fishing with Jaime for at least 9 years.  During that period I've caught numerous striped marlin, sailfish, dorado, wahoo, roosterfish, yellowfin, jack cravelle etc. with Jaime.  :fishing1
But my last couple of times out I've been skunked....he says I'm "salado" which I believe translates to being "jinxed" or "having bad luck" . I was hoping on ridding myself of my Cabo skunk on this trip.

I brought both my sons along to help rid me of my bad mojo and to put my 8 year old son Lucas on his first ever roosterfish. My 9 year old Noah popped his rooster cherry at the ripe age of 6.

To be continued......

Here is a pic of 8 year old Lucas and a Torro ( Jack Cravelle )

Great picture Antonio.  The kids will never forget the adventure and excitement of catching fish like that.

So after Lucas caught his Torro it slowed down considerably. The water temp was only 70 which is pretty cold and the inshore bite was pretty non existent. There was a storm that had just passed and had turned the water greenish in color.

The days trip was to focus on the boys and to make sure they got some action so that they would want to come out again. Therefore we switched over and started bottom fishing for triggers etc....

The boys had a blast and it was priceless to watch their faces when they hooked up. I think one of the highlights for them was surfing the bow of the panga on the way back to the marina. As they did their rendition of the Leonardo Dicaprio's "I'm the king of the world".

Woke up early Saturday July 6th and drove up the corridor to a little hidden beach for some free dive spearfishing. I discovered this gem of a beach several years ago but due to its  surgy waters it needs to be a pretty calm day to get out and hunt.

Armed with my Rob Allen 700 cm rail gun I entered the 70 degree water wearing a shorty wetsuit. I kicked out about 100 yards and began diving in 25 feet of water but with only a hazy 10 ft. of vis. The water was still greenish and didnt show any signs of improvement due to a second storm due to hit Monday/ Tuesday.

I was diving the perimeter of the rocky shoreline in the pic below. I saw tons of uni, a stingray and a large school of Mexican goatfish. The goatfish were not approachable whatsoever. I continued diving for 30 mins then decided to head in because it was getting too cold never even got a chance to fire my gun.

When I got back to shore I grabbed my surf rod to try a little shore fishing.
Ended up hooking 6 and landing 4 goatfish. I also caught a small pompano that I released.
I caught enough for some fish tacos for lunch. Love starting my mornings this way.

Sunday and Monday July 7th, 8th due to rough conditions and cold water my guided surf fishing trips were canceled.  I've been maxing out my drinking and eating tolerance levels these past couple of days. I need to get back out soon.
I was suppose to go on a road trip this morning to the East Cape but that was also postponed due to the forecasted thunderstorms.

Si  :party +1000 pesos

Storms coming in.... Medano beach is pretty barren right now. Had my bartender buddy make me up a concoction of 2oz of Malibu Rum, 2 oz of Bacardi Blanco, 2 oz of Myers Rum and 3 oz of pineapple juice..........just kicking back under a palapa and enjoying the waves  :smt003
