Capitola 6-21-12

Long story short, no good bites...    But I took all these pics, so might as well post a report 

Arrived at Cap around 5:00 and got all my gear hauled down to the beach, got everything rigged up and the re-parked the truck up the hill.  While getting on my DS on Ed walks up and tells me about his recent WSB catch and a 15 lb butt he got just a couple days ago.  Stoked and ready I make my way to the water and launch with ease into some very flat seas, with just a little bit of wind.

Peddal my butt off until I finally reach my destination to start my drift, and enjoy a sunrise.

Drifting from the SC3 buoy, out past PP, the wind died down and it was just gorgeous!! 

Having 3 lines out, top/mid/bottom whole squid, the bottom line kept getting nibbled at and finally I found out who the culprit was. There were some pretty interesting marks on the FF as well.

The weather continued to improve, but NOAA kept warning me that by 1PM there would be a small craft advisory.  So I peddaled back to the SC3 buoy and drifted back to the raido towers 3 times before the tide and wind changed to start my drift back to the launch.

It was so hot and although I had on sunscreen, I still felt like I was being burned.    Deployed the Buff UV and no longer had to worry about a sunburn! 

The drift back was nice, yet uneventful until a few croakers showed up to steal my bait.  Then I saw a pod of dolphins working up some lunch nearby, and was lucky enough to get a quick shot of them. 

Arrived back at the launch by 11AM, and got packed up and on the road!

Found another use for the Buff while driving home too! 

Thanks for the report Al. I was thinking about heading down Mon-Tues. maybe SC? Weather dependent.

Mon looks like rain, but Tues for sure if its doable Rob! 

The buff on the buff is awesome, I will have to try that too.

Mon I really need to take care of some of my moms estate stuff anyway. Ill shoot for Tues-Wed.

Did you try that Sand Dab for live bait?     Thanks for the report and pictures Al.

Nice pics...I fished SC and got 2 ling ..I kept one that was 26 inches for dinner..
