Ganoderma - if you have more underwater pics, you can adjust the levels to make the pictures pop more.

Here's a 5-second edit of your pic, can make it nicer with some extra editting, but just to show the rough difference.

Looks great. What type of edits did you do? Contrast? Brightness?

Just auto-levels, then brightened.

If you send me the original picture, I can put a little more time into tweaking it.  The resizing gives extra noicse & compression artifacts.  I just use auto-levels on UW stuff to get an idea of the potential editting would provide since colors like red are filtered out of the spectrum so quickly.

Looks like the main improvements in the w20 over the w10 are:
  • 1MP increase in resolution
  • new 1600ISO mode
  • double the built in memory (negligible since everyone has memory cards)
  • 5 grams lighter  :smt005

The 1600ISO mode is good for night shots or underwater use where light is filtered out quickly... but by nature, produces a really grainy picture.

What they really need to work on is providing a wider angle lense(makes fish look bigger in pictures  :smt003) & a backlighting for the display screen(hard to see at times  :smt009).

All-in-all, I think the 1600ISO & megapixel increase is worth the extra $40.  You most likely won't notice the mp difference, but if you print any pictures, the aspect ratios are different, so you lose some of the picture in cropping.  If you just bought the w10(like me :(), then it's not worth upgrading.  But if you're buying it new, might as well.

If you google on the Optio w20 you pull up several camera sites that sell it for as low as $222.  Makes me a little suspicious that the low price could be too good to be true.  Has anyone bought one from these low priced sites and can give feedback on if they got the real thing and had no problems?
