9 May – Kayak Fishing for Rockfish, Lingcod and Ocean Salmon
Ocean king salmon fishing opened in April and rockfish season opens in May along the Northern California coast. Salmon, lingcod and rockfish are popular gamefish and premier table fare. Additionally, several major kayak fishing tournaments focus on rockfish and salmon throughout the season, starting with Shelter Cove in May, Trinidad in July, and Albion in August.  This seminar will cover gear and basic methods for salmon trolling and mooching, methods for jigging for rockfish and lingcod, plus basic ocean kayak safety and gear. Come on out and learn about this exciting kayak fishing opportunity and swap fishing info and stories with other local kayak anglers.

Please post-up if you will attend.  With the longer days and nice, warm Sacramento evenings we’d like to fire-up the grill, BBQ some man-dogs and do it up NCKA potluck style.  Hope to see you there.  Below are a few pics from past years, I know I’m ready to get back on the ocean with my fishing buddies!

Yeehaw.... Bird's fish stories along with a BBQ sounds good to me!

Anyone from the East Bay Area wanna carpool with me to John's seminar?

I can drive my mini-van and pick you up in San Leandro or somewhere along the way to Sacramento.

Here's some of my favorite rockfish porn to get the juices flowing:

We'll provide the dogs, buns, condiments, plates, napkins, utensils, plus some bottled waters and sodas.

Sounds like Ron will bring a desert item.

If you haven't already posted-up, please let us know if you will be coming.

Hope to see some folks on Thursday!

I was just there on Sunday. I guess I could make another trip.  :smt044
Sounds like fun.
Besides, I could use some salmon pointers before GS7.
If I get up enough gumption I'll bring the remote control DR. No promises though.
