Had to miss out on the Alameda Island Fish-N-Sail, since it was going to be Sara's only day off for many days.  We spent the day together, then went to Mel Cottons to pickup some salmon gear and pickup Quinn from his dad's house.  While at Mel's we watched a bass guy named Rod expertly working his lures in the tank.  They had a raffle, of which Sara won a bag of fishing goodies, including a DVD From FishSniffer for Kokanee fishing  :smt044  We grabbed a bite to eat and then set out to have some chill time fishing on the shore at Lexington Reservoir.

I had packed up some bass gear, including Quinn's Batman Rod and some tackle he got from his uncle for christmas.  I started out by tossing a texas rigged worm, while Quinn picked a swimbait, kind of like a Storm shad sort of thing.  I pinched down his barb, and we began working the shoreline, for every cast I'd made, I'd turn around and have to help Quinn un-snag his lure.  He started getting better at casting after he stopped trying to heave it as far as he could  :smt044

We walked the shoreline casting and un-snagging while Sara took Bacon for a little walk.  Just as she came up on where we were fishing, Quinn starts to yell that he has a fish!  We both were like, "OK, keep reeling it in Quinn!"  But we both really thought it was a snag, as every snag he got he said it was a fish on!  :smt005  To our amazement, we heard a splash and look over at Quinn and he is reeling in a nice bass!

Sara was quick to capture the moment while we were still trying to tell him to get the fish up on the shoreline.   :smt003  We got the fish on the shore and when Bacon saw it she flipped out and bit the tail!  I got him un-hooked, and held him up for Quinn to take a pic.  You can see Bacon is still trying to get the fish from us in the pic.  :smt044

Sara and I tried the same spot for an hour, and didn't get any fish to speak of.  All that time Quinn patted himself on the back, and at the same time explanind that he was now a Pro.  :smt003  Bacon wouldn't stop looking for that fish once it was released, and paced the shoreline looking for it.  :smt005
