That was the most fun I've had sailing in the bay!!!

After lunch we ran a couple informal races from the Ballena Bay Marina to the Harbor Bay Channel markers.  The wind was blowing and white caps added to the excitement.  I took a bunch of spray in the face.  That just added to the fun.  Getting seawater in my beer --- not so fun -- yuck!.

SteveS won the first race.  Don "Elusive" won the second race.

Thanks to everyone who participated and brought goodies to the potluck.  Special thanks to Hojoman for taking and posting pics and to Martianfish who helped me set up.

Getting the boats up that steep beach slope was work.  Great teamwork guys!!!

It was nice to meet new members Napoleon and Armando "Aquarius".

I'm already looking forward to the next fish-n-sail.

Thanks for putting on this event Chucke. This is the second time I sailed the AI. Had a blast with the NCKA crew. Can't wait for next time.

This is a short video of the start of the last run.

Coming back in, 200 yds from shore and only inches of water. What a workout dragging that thing back to shore. (Helps if you remember to remove the dagger board first  :smt005 )

Ernest..... you did OUTSTANDING for your 2nd time sailing!  Sunday was not exactly ideal conditions for a newbie sailor.  Glad you had fun.

Your two videos do great job capturing the what it was like that afternoon.  Thanks for posting them!

For those that weren't there, the wind and chop got worse as we got further offshore and closer to the Harbor Bay channel markers.  It made for an exciting run.  Anytime you're sharing the water with kiteboarders, you know the wind is blowing!!!

I will upload my vid tonight. It was so much fun although I am still bummed that my boat took on as much water as it did. the only way in has to be that front hatch. Time for some mod....right after I make that sweet boat loader best kayak mcgyver mod to date!

Thats weird, mine had about 4 cups inside at the end of the day.  I trashed both turbo fins since I didn't realize I was stuck in the mud and tried to sail away.  Good thing the rod posts are OK.

I was nose diving quite a bit so I could see more but it was more then a gallon. I need to set up the go pro inside and see where it leaks as I run water over the hatch. I also want to make some simple (like 8" wide) sailing benches to I can lean out a bit the leeward ama was diggin deep.

On the golden gate sail after the upwind leg, my boat had a gallon of water in the hull. The faster you go the more water pressure and the more the front hatch leaks. I have thought about running some insulation but pumping the hull OTW is really easy.

Yeah I am going to add some insulation to the underside. I also may add a cross strap to really hold it down. I did that with my revo and i was good fix.

Thanks for letting me use your pump Eric. There were at least 5 gallons in my hull. I'd like to see what solution you come up with. I may need to imitate that. Until I have a fix, I think I'd just tape the front hatch shut when I sail.

no worries on the pump. I was also considering just filling that gap between the hatch and hull with a thin strip of pool noodle. when sailing it nasty wx

Could the leak be coming from behind?  Like the 2 holes where the steering cables goes through?
