Man I can see I am a newbie.  I usually only take a white chocolate macadamia nut cliff bar and water.

Thinking I should bring more lookin at everyone else's replies.

Just don't want to overdue it and have to signal "Code Brown" when OTW.  Never happened to me personally, but has occured to a few pals.

My favorite thing that I have taking the pleasure eating was at Tiki last year when Sonny brought a Vietnamese vegetable and pork sandwich and in  Monterey by the Red can all the sudden out of the sky I see a jelow shot flying towards me, man I needed that, it was so tasty.

When diving...2 clifbars and 2 bottles of gatorade is plenty for an all day session.

When fishing....I bring the clfibars and gatorade and a six pack...I don't condone intoxication on the water at all, but LOVE cracking a beer first thing in the morning when the sun is coming up and I am dropping my lure for the first time.

Another beer somewhere around halfway through and one once all the gear is packed away and heading in.  I like having the few extra beers to stoke out any other paddling buddy I might see out there.

Usually some protein bars and cliff shots (the non caffeine type) and water.  If I'm on freshwater I'll bring caffeine, but on saltwater it tends to increase susceptibility to motion sickness.

Before my fist kayak tournament I drank a big red bull and that went really badly.

For snacks I take teriyaki beef jerky, the kind Sasquatch likes, some mini chips ahoy cookies, and if I stop by the store on the way I like blue cheese potato salad.  Plus water, diet coke, and 7-up.  I get the mini size.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

Snickers protein bars (they don't taste like dirt) Brownie Cliff bars... I usually bring 7-10 to share for those that start drooping while we are out. 1 liter diet Pepsi. 1 32 oz Gatorade (glacier freeze in a blue flavor, Gotta love blue) Jerky and sunnies (ranch flavored SF seeds)... Did anyone find my jerky at black butte? went over board and caught the wind... never saw it again :smt010
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

I don't tend to eat much OTW, but I can tell when my body needs fuel so I make myself eat. These days I'm partial to Clif "mojo" bars for quick energy. Water to drink.

For a long day I'll pack a couple of bars on the yak and some fruit (learned this from watching someone wise), and then pack a nice sandwich & snacks for a shore meal when I'm back on the beach.

Keeping the calories and hydration constant becomes more and more critical as we age. I can totally tell I can't get away with what I used to 10 years ago.

+1, just a few cliff bars and water then something hearty back at the truck, but sturgeon fishing is a whole other story, thermos of coffee, couple sandwiches, chips, jerky and cookies :smt003, cameron

Good point Sean.  I have been making myself jump back on the yak and fuel/hydrate way more than I used to.

Porky and I charged straight out over 2 miles last saturday morning...he has bloood sugar issues so before he even jumped in he was feeling it.  :smt009

If I'm shore diving I really like having a board that I can bring fuel/liquids out on (or at least have some stashed on the beach) cuz otherwise I feel like crap hiking out...

Great topic!

Yeah, it's the hike out that is often an unexpected energy drain, 'cause it is always wayyy tougher to hike back to the car than it was to hike down to the ocean!

+1, great topic just before we really get into the season.
