My iphone is loaded with gigs of music and audio books, but I'm freaked about it getting wet while out fishing/crabbing.  I'm looking for options.  The good waterproof plastic bag enclosure for the iphone runs $30ish and the best rated waterproof MP3 players run $150.

What is everyone else doing?  Any homespun tricks or alternate solutions?

I don't always listen to music OTW but when I do, I do it with Lifeproof.

I use a life proof case, you can get a refurbished case for a little over twenty bucks if you search the web, or you could just use a ziplock bag and a cheap blu tooth stereo headset.

Plano and Pelican both offer a small, waterproof box that fits an iPhone or droid very well.  I am ditching Lifeproof.  One year old and my case is literally falling apart; the rubber has gone to hell on me.

Yeah, I would say put your iphone in a pelican or otter drybox (inside the hull) then just get some cheapo waterproof speakers that have bluetooth capability...and stick those on the deck of your yak.

This.  I can hear things everyday, I get away so i don't have to hear things.  Just nature, friends, maybe a few silly scopace songs  :smt003. And

I like to stay in the moment while I kayak.  Nature sounds.  Like, there are certain birds that fly close to the water, and their wings squeak as they pass you.  A whale coming up for a breath.  Or, God forbid, a sea lion snorting as he gets ready to sneak attack your game clip hanging off the side of your yak.  Can't hear that when your plug in.  Also,  there have been times when an emergency call has gone out and all yakers are to head to the distressed or overturned brother.  If you have a marine radio and are on 69, that should be your priority.  In my opinion that is.

Some great suggestions, thanks all.

I think I'll go with the waterproof bluetooth earbuds from iKross.

Cheers!
