Mowing the lawn, trimming, cutting weeds all over, cleaning house, just so I can fish for three days. Whew! Hard work. Easier to paddle against a 25 mph wind. See you all Fri or Sat. I need a beer.  :smt078 maybe I don't.

Scoring
King Salmon: 10 pts/in      Kokanee: 12 pts/in         Trout: 8 pts/in
Bass: 7 pts/in   Bluegill/Crappie: 11 pts/in      Catfish: 6 pts/in

Is this a best of any combination of these 5 fish, with the points that Pat posted?  So like

2 Kings, 1 trout, 1 bass, and a cat
1 Koke, 2 bass, 3 crappie
3 Trout, 2 Kokes, 1 Salmon <- Salmon Slam!
5 bluegill

that sort of thing?  :smt003

Yes. Your best five in any combo. All of one, or one of each. Mix and match. Your choice.

I was hoping for it to be like last year. Only one per species. I've got a plan. Nobody follow me.  :smt002

Not that it matters since I'm not attending, but I'm with you Rob.  I like last year's format better.  I think the new format takes a little skill out of the competition. Requiring your single best fish from each species means an angler needs to be more well rounded.  If somebody can find a school of any species, especially panfish or even bass to some extent, you can sit on top of them and try to pick them off for your 5 fish.

I'd be curious as to the reason behind the switch.

BTW, I'm not complaining.  Just giving my $0.02.

The reason that this tournament like all of my others, are the best five fish format is so that there is a real chance for the novice angler to do well in a tournament. With an annual accumulation of points for the series, that narrows it down so that the most highly skilled anglers are competing for the end of year prizes.

To me it is important to have a format that encourages new kayakers, and new anglers to participate. As far as benefit to the sport and the sponsors, I feel it is much better to give the novice a fighting chance at winning a prize :-) otherwise its the same five guys every time with, a few exceptions of course :-)

There are still the ocean tournaments that really bring out the level of skill needed put together a one fish per species bag.  And AOTY also let's the highly skilled anglers show their stuff :-)

All I know is now I don't have to work as hard paddling to get 5 fish. The trout will be closer than the two salmon. And Crappie and bass will be real close.

Ricci, fishworks, is supposed to get it. He should post t. If not, call me at 916-202-2631 and I will see what I can do. The gate code may just be for Sun morn to get in early. I think I saw something about if you are not there by 9 PM you can't get in.

Is 9:00 the cut off time for sure?  Is there a place to park and walk in? My wife might get there before me to check in to our site.
