Lake Berryessa at Pleasure Cove: April 14, 2013  (Map: http://goo.gl/maps/Egk6V )

The rules for the event are:  Best five (5) fish per person(chosen by the angler) as scored based on the scoring system below.  The total points of your best 5 fish as measured at weigh-in or presented on a camera will be your score.  Fishing starts at 6:00 am,and you must have a wristband before competing. I will hand out wristbands at the launch beginning at 5:00 am. The angler must be on shore no later than 1:00pm and immediately head to the check-in table. All Ca. DFG rules must be followed or immediate disqualification will happen. You will be required to wear a PFD or life jacket while competing.
There is also a competition for the most trash picked up by weight during the tournament, the prize for this will be announced on tournament day.
Since this is a "Series" event hosted by Freshwater Kayak Anglers Tournament Series 2013 (FreshKATS), points from this event will be added to points for the angler earned at the other five events to determine the top series winners.  Grand Prize for the series will be announced at a later date.

Note that as this is a FreshKATS event, FreshKATS membership is required for tournament insurance.  The membership is $15 and is good for one(1) calendar year.   If you are not a member, please pay for membership with your registration.

Registration on-site or by mail and email.  (Email: Jim Meier at [email protected])  The registration and waiver forms are attached in MSword97 format

Adventure Sports is sponsoring this event again :)

I am still working with reclamation on the camping situation. if we cant get camping worked out, it will be a one day event out of oak shores...

I will know more next week.

Aside from the camping problem, permits are in hand and i need to make a few more calls for swag :)

Tony and I have started the shirt designs. Its going to one shirt one for the whole series this year, unless enough people want a dedicated BSS3 shirt :)

I cant wait to get on some salmon :)

I'm very much looking forward to BSS3.  I say we start an Occupy Berryessa movement if they don't allow us to camp.  :smt003

Thanks guys :) I really want to camp there as well.

I have another phone call with them on Tuesday.  Going to try to work something out with the facility manager.  Hopefully I can get him on our side, but it will probably require more work on our part.  Like providing a few extra port-o-potties and committing to a night security shift or something like that...
I'll let you know what I find out after that call.

Sorry for the late reply on this, I have been predisposed the last several days with family matters.

After more conversations with Reclamation, It comes down to you guys and gals.
Due to contracting and concessionairre issues, there will not be any overnight camping available for the event this year and the Day Use opens at 7am.

So my question to you is:

Have BSS3 at Oak Shores as a day use event,

Or

Move the Salmon Slam to New Melones in March and cancel the June event at New Melones?

I say leave it at Berryessa, thats where the Salmon Slam started. Lupine is still still day use, Oak shores works also.

Sorry Jim... Sounds like camping is out until they get their act back together.  Which I really hope is soon, because Berry is one of my favorite spots, but there is no way I can day trip there and fish a tourney.  Have to find a cheap hotel or something close enough to make it in the morning.  I'd love to see an event at New Melones, or Don Pedro for that matter.  Seems they have been under utilized for NCKA events, and have decent fishing and lots of camping options.

There must be something close by. Maybe Putah Creek, Lake Solano?
