Ok so this is not a Fishing Tournament, but it is the second best pot luck in Northern CA. Every year now for the past 5 years I have hosted this event through my shop. Like most things it started small and has grown to well over 100 paddlers. Last year was the first year we were joined by a few folks from NCKA and we wanted to see that grow. So here is your official invite. Sept 27-30 we are going to spend a few days paddling, fishing, chilling, and eating at beautiful Lake Tahoe. This year we rented the Entire Meeks Bay Resort to accommodate all the paddlers. They have a huge camp ground, dozens, of little Cabins, and a few full on multi room house. The event is stages right in Meeks bay and makes for a beautiful setting. Last year we spent one day paddling to Emerald bay from Baldwin beach, hosted a demo day for Eddyline, Sterling, and Hobie, and had top notch free instruction form a couple guest instructors from Canada. We took the Demo AI and Tandem AI out in 30 kt winds for the ride of a life time. We had a pot luck that fed 118 people with two days worth of left overs. Anyways enough said. We hope you can make it. When you call to make your reservations be sure to tell them your with the Headwaters Kayak Group, otherwise they will tell you its all booked. I recommend RSVPing early cause its already over half full.

Here is the info we posted to the Lodi Paddle Club and Shasta Paddlers:

"This popular event is being organized by Headwaters Adventure Company in Redding and The Headwaters Kayak Shop in Lodi. Paddle clubs from all over Northern California will be invited and last year 115 paddlers from N. California, Oregon, Washington and British Columbia attended.

Manufacturers from several companies will have representatives with demo kayaks available each day. There will be organized paddles and kayak games to demonstrate your skills. This is a great opportunity to try out different kayaks and since this will be the end of the season, the demo boats will be available to purchase at huge savings. Saturday evening we will have a potluck BBQ, and on Sunday morning a pancake and sausage potluck breakfast.

Meeks Bay Resort and Marina has cabins, RV sites with hookups, and tent sites. Last year we reserved half of the resort and all sites were taken by the end of February. This year we have reserved the entire resort. If you want to attend this fun event and stay at the Resort with us, you should reserve your spot NOW as over 50% of the sites are already taken. BE SURE TO TELL THEM YOUR WITH THE KAYAK GROUP!!!! Otherwise they will tell you its full. We reserved the Entire Resort. Please call Terri at Headwaters Adventure Company at (530) 223-2411, or Dan at Headwaters Kayak Shop in Lodi. The shops are open Tuesday thru Saturday. Hope to see you there."

sounds like fun Dan. I almost made it there last year, I'll definitely consider coming up this year but might just stay in my cuz's house in south lake.

Sounds like a great time, Dan.  Very cool of you to invite NCKA.  I wish I could commit to going, but I know we'll have soccer started up by then for my kids.  Can't wait to read about it and see the fun.   :smt001

Scott,
If you book a site at Meeks Campground right next to this one it has a dog beach on the south end along with a great sandy beach. It is a Federal campground and one oof the best priced campground around. One of my favorites, If I plan to go this is where I will book my spot for sure. You can walk or paddle easily to the other campground.

Yea its a bummer about the dogs, but Meeks Bay Campground is less than a stones throw away.

Right at the camp ground. Last year they did not come around, but they have in years past. It's free, just have a clean dry boat.
