What Ya Doing this Winter ... Side Projects

I saw a couple people had som winter projects going, so figured I'd ask what else anyone was working on.

I love those old datsuns. My very first car was a nerdy 510 hatchback, but man I loved that car.

My own projects included two cold frames. I built them with lexan doors and they came out perfect for growing starts. Already have lettuce in one of them.

Next up:
Some big outdoor art pieces to replace Whitey (who is now the guardian of my house).
Plan is an 8'x5' lingcod piece for sure. All designed and drawn out, just needs to be built and painted into reality.

I just put a window and two long storage shelves in the shed/studio, and will be putting in heat shortly. Joy!

I love Datsun's.  My first was a 1990 pickup then I had a B-210.  Got some sweet action on in the back of my B-210 hatchback!

This winter i am hoping to get back on to my lathe and turn out some duck calls.

My winter project: Get SCUBA certified.

Decided to give rodbuilding a go.  Although, by the time I get all my stuff together, this may be a spring side project lol.

Made this the other day...

Getting the rest of my boats and extra boat trailers sold, gone, cleaned up.... Still have one 18 ft skeeter tournament bass boat and two glasspar Lido's left plus 4 trailers.... Cutting down to two boats (14ft crestliner and 17ft Dorsett catalina)

Is that your lido, wimperdink?  .  We had a 16' glasspar citation when I was kid.  We fished the hell out of it and it paid us back by beating the snot out of us in the chop.....always made it back though.

My current project....replace crappy bench seat with lean post and storage.

The inside was filled, filleted faired and glassed, just need some free time and sunshine to glass and gel coat the outside.  After this I'm making a live bait tank for the islander trip.






Also turning stainless bar stock to make jig heads for 4" albacore trollers.  These are alot heavier than the commercially available jr size trolling jigs, they oughta run nicely. 

Think I saw some pictures when you got it. Dorsett cabin cruser is what I'm working on now. Hope for spring runs with it... (not my Lido.... Just to show what it is) This is the type of dorsett I Have

Way cool Eric!!  My first car was also a datsun... That POS got me in a lot of trouble   

I'm working on converting a 6x10 Cargo Trailer into a Mini-Camper.  I've just about finished installing insulation, and we are going to give it a test run this weekend at crabfest before I go any further with the project.  But next up will be to install a window, DC and AC wiring, Bed/Table, Kitchen, Entertainment Center, and Flooring.  So, got a bit of work still to do 

Right now a 50 horse evinrude... Soon a 65 horse Mercury!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Al, gotta get you one of these.... See picture 10X10 and I can tow it with the Cabriolet!!!!

In one yrs time I went from having no boats to having two My kayak I got into last yr and now thanks to my loving wife, for Christmas I got this thing of beauty from her and her family.
My youngest already thinks he's going to be the capt.

its no Davis but for what I can affored this will work just as good for getting my kids out on the tuna grounds

So this is my winter project cause she needs a good cleaning, a little wax a New radar and a new GPS unit then its time to head out for the reaches I cant get to with my yak.
