just camped out and fished for a month way down in baja (three day drive from the border-south of loreto). couldn't go out every day cuz of windy conditions and only caught one fish each time out as i was only getting dinner for myself and didn't have a freezer but it was awesome anyway.

on my very last troll of the whole trip i accidentally hooked a pelican! and then i was attacked by seagulls. sort of. check out the video link above. (i'd show it here but can't figure how to make the video appear in this thread). thankfully i was able to get the lure out of the pelican's neck (my favorite blue and silver krocodile i caught most of the fish with)...

stressful for the pelican but pretty straightforward really.

Nice vid Max

I accidentally caught a pelican while shore fishing in Cabo with my two boys ages 7 and 5 at the time. When releasing the pelican I gave my boys the opportunity to gently pet the bird. My 5 year felt the underside on the birds beak where all the extra skin is located.

He then turned to me and said " Papa, it feels just like my nut sack"

Super cool Max, I plan on heading down to Baja for maybe 6 to 10 weeks of camping on the East Cape. Las Arenas, which is about 5 miles south of Isla Ceverrlo, and Los Frailes...just south of Cabo Pulmo. It will be my 37th trip,...but first with a kayak. I just bought a Hobie Outback, with a Garmin ff, bait tank, along with surf boards, mt. bike...I am excited.  As soon as my present jobs ends, I am gone. Maybe leaving around April.
Looks like you had an excellent trip, as all trips to Baja are. Ron

Baja's East Cape...Los Frailes, Vinorama...I have camped 6 times at 9 Palms, an awesome right break...that is 4 miles south of the Country Club. Surfed with my two daughters, a little bit of beach fishing and diving for lobster. Might be a hard launch at 9 Palmes, so Los Frailes might be a better spot...plus deep, DEEP water (Marlin, wahoo, tuna) is just offshore at Los Frailes. Check out the maps for depths. I'm getting a stiffie just thinking about it! Pass me a cold Pacifico! Ron

Ron,

I've passed by 9 palms and Los Frailes a few times. Is the beach that you are referring to at Los Frailes the one with the palapas on the beach?

Sorry about the thread jack max.
