It seems completely unreasonable to DQ a fish just because the mouth is slightly open. (Especially when it provides little to no advantage!)
Why not adjust the measurement instead?

I believe this was a satisfactory answer to cover this topic

"If you have a fish whose mouth absolutely will not shut, state so in the comments when you post and the committee will review.  I'm guessing 99% of fish will be able to have their mouths shut.  We'll deal with the 1% in some fashion."

This along with the closed mouth rule should keep it fair.

Cool, I was just curious what other people thought about the DQ vs adjusting the measurement for open-mouthed fish. But I kinda assumed the consensus would favor the idea of assigning an accurate measurement to fish w/open mouths...Instead of an outright DQ. So shame on me haha!
