We could even do it the day before the tourney so we don't interrupt the serious fishing.  I think we could even make it a Loose Screws event.  I would be happy to handle the details if you guys really want to do it and Eric approves.

But...  There is a real potential to hook some very special fish - like big salmon and halibut. I'd rather see a side competition with standard gear instead of Barbie poles. The fact is, if you hook a big, hot fish on a kiddie pole you'll have very little chance of landing it. I'd rather see fishing skill and readiness celebrated vs just luck.  :smt001

I was thinking this is the antithesis of skill; the absolute opposite of a skill based competition.  Understanding that up front really puts it in perspective.  There's no way, this would take away from the skills demonstrated to win the real event.   A winner of this kind of contest would never be able to view this as skill.  Just fun!   Let's see if there's much interest before adding another event to event.  I'm Ok with or without it.

Side bet on the big day!! You guys can decide what you want to do... I would say biggest Rockfish it would be the easier thing to do. And whoever is collecting money dont take no for an answer... another idea is to do a 50/30/20 split if the pot gets real big. If 150 guys buy in it could be nice for day for a few or one.... :smt044

Just my thought exactly, since we arent going to target specific. Rockfish everyone gets fair share on catching. Will this be same format as Annual Albion side bet?

Had a gentleman in the store today said he trolled from 10 am to 4:30 pm at the cove and stopped counting after landing 26 lingcod on an apex! Only 3 were under 22 inches and he trolled from 20 feet down to 70 feet and said he got some huge lings! Never hooked a ling on an apex before!
