The Cove was soooooooooooooooooo stinking nice today!  On a day with SCA - Small Craft Advisory - and a 15-25 knot NW wind forecast.  Yes, the sheep were out and it was a mess out there, but IN the Cove and right outside it was HEAVENLY!!!  See my fishing report for more detail.

Jim Russell - pray for water like today - I could've dove my best ab spot at Ab Point!  Vis all along the reef was exquisite!!

I want to come to this so bad. Next year can it be on any other weekend than Mothers Day weekend???

The tournament has been on the Saturday opener for rockfish and lingcod the past 3 or 4 years.  This year the opener is on Wednesday the 15th.  The tournament is on the 18th, so there are a few days of potential pre-fishing.  Mother's Day is on the 12th.

Maybe we'll see you there.

Would that be the Moyer Invitational a few years back at 200 entries?  Please put up a link if there are actual details available on that and other events and their numbers.

Personally, I think GS is in a different league than any one day tournament in more accessible fishing areas.  Registration closes a full month before the event, the location is remote/a long trip for most, and people show up for multiple days and nights with more activities in mind than just  the tournament.

I'll keep trying for best vs biggest.   

For the record, I think we should count nonpaying kayak anglers too since they're going to participate in the event.
