"Enchanted Vagabonds" or "Journey to the lost City". You can get them from Amazon via the Long Riders Guild.

Both rather dramatic tales of a young couple in the 1930's trekking the coast and interior of Mexico and Central America. Regardless of how much they blur fiction/non-fiction, they are fun reads with lots of cool outdoor survival stuff.

My Thirty Year War: Hiroo Onoda

It's about a Japanese Army Lieutenant on an island in the Philippines during the latter stages of World War Two.  His orders were to evade capture and NOT go on a suicide mission if over run by the enemy. During that time, the Japanese believed they were chosen to rule the world by a higher power (Shintoism) so the Lt. on an island in the Philippines could not fathom Japan losing the war. So he evaded capture and death for THIRTY years on this island killing lots of Filipino's and conducting raids on rice crops ect. There are detailed descriptions of how he lived off the land, used coconut oil to oil his weapons and things like that. It truly is a remarkable story of dedication to duty, survival and general bad-assedness. It's an easy read, you should definitely check it out.

"In The Gray" by Mark Wisch. He is a seasoned charter captain that wrote about WSB fishing techniques around Catalina. Gives really specific insights and locations. Great read. Very expensive, so borrow if you can.
So I'm packing my bags for the Misty Mountains, where the spirits go...........

Most of Hemingway's books related to hunting and fishing.
Most of Zane Grey's fishing books.
Any travelogue by Paul Theroux.

Damn, may have to dig these out of the basement and read them again.

For the freedivers/spearfishers in us all: Search out Carlos Eyles. He is an author, freediver, and photographer. He has a perspective that many should share...

Uhg... Wuts a book?  40 years ago if I needed information about anything, I had to go get an encyclopedia (The right volume)  and look for the information with in the pages!  Imagine now, what the procedure will be 40 years from now?  Digital implants?
