Just in: The Bureau of Reclamation locked Pensus out of their resorts last night, Friday, 12/7.

I am guessing that the free ramp is still open.

"Much of this issue is about the development and planning process,” Lucero said. “The contract has been in place for a couple of years now. The contractually agreed to schedule has not been met. We have been working with them to get them to meet those schedules. They’re not being as responsive as we would like them to be.”

THOSE BASTARDS  :smt011 :smt012 :smt013, my brother and my S.I.L. both had trailers up there and had to demolish them to give way to the rich and greedy. And for what ?, to be pissed on. We had alot of great family times up there and it came to a crashing halt because of them !!!
I hope they get sued over this !!!

There's two sides to this story. According to Pensus it's the BOR that is the problem.

There was wrong doing in both sides, Pensus started good then they did not do any real progress, to bad they had good plans for the resorts, I hope it is running for our Berryessa  event.
I have not been to the lake in over 6 months,i don't know if they finally did the boat docks or bathrooms.

It has been confirmed that Steele Park (Lupine Shores) and Putah Creek (Chaparral Cove) were taken over by the Bureau of Reclamation at 3 PM today. The will reopen tomorrow as free launch ramps until further notice - per the BOR ranger at the gate. I think the hours will be 7 AM to 5 PM.

Same here, Tim! My grandparents had a place on Sunset Pt in Spanish Flat since the 50s, until the Bureau kicked us out. And it probably wouldn't have stung as bad if they actually made that area into a campground like they proposed. Because I would LOVE to go back and camp right there, where I spent some much time with my family. But they really effed this thing up. No nobody get to enjoy it. What a waste.

my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

Pat, I don't know exactly where your folks lived but they did open a campground in the vicinity of Spanish Flat. It was called Foothill Pines but it was only open over the summer months like from Memorial day to Labor day. It was a great place to launch when it was open. Regarding what happened recently, between BOR & Pensus, I'm wondering if part of the problem could be the lack of revenue being generated by the campgrounds. For 9 months of the year they are largely empty & deserted and even during the summer only the weekends seemed to fill them up. Also having the free launch, at Cappel, probably keeps most power boaters from driving to Lupine or Charparral to pay $$ to launch when they can do so at Cappel for free.

Yeah, we'll see when the dust settles, at least they are trying to return it to the recreational lake it should be.

When I go to the free launch i have to be ready to wait at least 30 min, long lines and many boats, if you are not there before 10 am you better go someplace else and pay to launch or you will be parking on the road and have a long walk too, i remember a few years ago going to putah creek and paying 18.00 for launching and if that only cover 2 people, if you had more people in the truck that was an extra 5.00 per person. same at spanish flat, on the other side of the lake at pleasure cove it was 30.00 to launch.
when Pensus took over the fees went down till they to install new bathrooms but they never did. Now that The Reclamation ha it back they are not going to charge till someone else wins the bid for the lease of resorts
Good Free launching for us for at least 6 months.
