Some of you might remember my previous thread a month ago about my 3 year old being diagnosed with Kawasaki's Disease.  Very rare, very strange, and hands down the most difficult challenge we've ever faced.  He responded very well to the treatment, and was released from the hospital after an 8-day stay.

He lost nearly 25% of his body weight during that time, but after just a few weeks home he had put it all back on.  With his strength coming back, sleep patterns re-establishing, and a general sense of well-being we were optimistic for his appointment yesterday at UC Davis.  Realistically however, we knew that with his delayed diagnosis and treatment we faced the potential for cardiac aneurysms and the long-term impact that may have.

After the EKG and echocardiogram, I am totally stoked to say he is 100% healed, with no damage to his heart.  He has been released to live a completely normal life, with no restrictions.  It felt great to get home, unpack our 'rush-to-the-ER' bags that have been sitting by the front door for the last month.  Standing on the side of I-5 on the drive home, watching my two monkeys peeing in a mud puddle as they waved to cars go by....it's just good stuff.  I couldn't have been any happier in that moment.  You never know what tomorrow will bring, so take the time to enjoy those silly moments.  :smt001

Thanks to all you guys for the words of encouragement, as you can see from our pic below I had some NCKA mojo rocking with us!  That shirt has seen some really good times, and I just knew it wouldn't disappoint!

RIGHT FU*#ING ON! So happy for you. You know we all have our burdens in life but it's great to hear that a three year old boy and his family aren't carrying this one.

Best wishes,
Ruben
