SO ive been working down in the Salinas Valley State Prison and were they make the contractors park is in A large field surrounding A winery. The problem we are having are the rabbits are crawling into the engine department and wrecking havoc! :smt009.. They have caused thousands of dollars in repair to wire harnesses, spark plug wires and any other insulation the can get to. The reason I know there rabbits is because I bring back several stowawys every so often. Any ideas?

Borrow one of the dept. of corrections K9's and tie it to your bumper. Guaranteed you won't have any rabbit engine problems. You might not have a bumper when you get back but it solves your first problem. :smt044

Rat's don't like Irish spring soap... Might try dog urine :smt044 (the smell might deter them) Hawk/owl silhouette spinners used to keep critters away, work sometimes. Sounds like they are a super population of rabbits. Possibly place hickory chips below your vehicle to give them something to gnaw on. They have to chew to wear their teeth that grow all the time. Good luck and don't leave your Yak on the ground :smt002 As stated before, They taste good too so :smt067 :smt117 :smt044 :smt044 :smt044
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

take the 10 lbs of manteca out of the van and maybe then wont come around. Actually, dog hair may work. Every so often I toss a big ball into the compost bin. I have yet to see any rats. what about some coyote urine?

Found this in some gardening tips:

Rabbits can also be controlled by aroma . Sprinkling dried blood around the border of your garden can be effective, as is fox urine. One suggested method for using the fox urine is to tie cotton balls on the fencing around your garden, then every few days sprinkle the cotton balls with a few drops of the fox urine. Both dried blood and fox urine can be found at Southern States or other garden supply stores and are okay to use around vegetables. I have even used ferret feces around the outside border of my vegetable garden fence. Ferrets are another natural predator of rabbits and this method seemed to help keep them away. Any of these methods will have to reapplied after rain.

Human hair sprinkled around the garden can also be used as a deterrent and when the hair eventually breaks down it serves as a good fertilizer. Local hair salons I am sure would be happy to give you a bag of human hair.

Gardeners have also reported success sprinkling vinegar, hot pepper flakes and liquid chile sprays on and around plants. One method is to soak corn cobs in vinegar for five minutes and then place them throughout the garden. The corn cobs should be resoaked in vinegar after two weeks. I have tried just sprinkling vinegar around the bean plants but without much success.

Some folks use moth flakes to keep rabbits away but they should not be used around vegetable gardens or even where children or pets can get to them.

I'd advise against discharging a weapon anywhere near a Prison. :smt002

Tennis balls soaked in ammonia works great on racoons suposed to work for rabbits also
