Weed is Legal in Colorado

i know for a fact that drinking Vodka everyday for twenty years WILL destroy your liver and you will die a misserable death. i also know for a fact that smoking tabacco products will destory your lungs and cause many of health related problems, resulting in death.

i have never heard of any body dying a a result of consuming a MJ product. EVER!

so who do you trust more? the government?  i think not!

Personally I really like the California MJ laws.  None of them can legally own a firearm.  Makes it easy to decide who to rob that way!!!  Like they say; If they smell like pot, take the shot!!

I got the sarcasm part, but I was thinking it came from carrying a badge not from a former users viewpoint . I thank you for having the guts to share your former hardships. Badge or ex user, I still just want to get out on the water with you someday and catch some big ones.

I partly agree with the sentiment that if it grows with just dirt water and sun, versus a processed, refined or unnatural substance, then we shouldn't get too uptight about it.  However, there is Opium. Meets the all natural criteria.  Yes, in the classic college days metaphor, I did once try Opium.  For just a short mellow buzz, the follow-up  craving was intense. Glad there wasn't any more around for my young and stupid self to get his hands on.

FYI- the person who had the stuff became an MD. He made it to the very top of his profession. A plastic and reconstructive surgery  and burns and nerve reattachment specialist. One of my very best friends ever!!! The combination of recreational use, and the use (particularly of pharmacuticals) to get through a doctor's long hours led to him being caught by nurses stealing Darvon and Demoral etc from the hospital.  He lost his wife, many special years with his son and he permenantly lost his California medical license.  He couldn't change through multiple rehab sessions, because he thought he was too special and the reality of drug use didn't apply to him. This gives me my personal perspective on these matters.

Under California Law medical marijuana users are breaking no laws in their use of mj and are entitled to own weapons as they are not commiting any crimes. Under federal law their use of mj is illegal and as such it is a crime to posses a firearm in conjunction with an illegally possesed controlled substance. The state mj laws are in direct conflict with the fed mj laws, and its only because the fed is overstepping its bounds and everyone knows it. They don't have the constitutional right to regulate this substance the way they do.

Also for all the people who have friends with serious heroin or opiate addictions there is a controversial treatment that is very effective at breaking the addiction however it requires the use of a schedule 1 drug called ibogaine tabertha that comes from the root of an african shrub. The drug was only made illegal 3-4 years ago and it wemt straight to schedule 1. (I guess it can't have any benefit if no one is allowed to do research, thanks s fed). Anyway a friend of mine has a phd is psychology and works at a clinic in TJ where they have a very high sucess rate of using this powerful halucinogen in conjunction with guided therapy and outpatient care to treat heroin addicts. As I am told the physical need to use vanishes, the hallucinations are powerful, ane not particularly pleasant on the body, I imagine similar to ayuhuasca if anyone here has experience with that. Anyway ibogaine has helped many addicts end their cravings and the therapy has helped with environmental triggers for people who have serious habits built unto their lives. The world is full of drugs the key is moderation in all things. You wouldn't tell a cancer patient not to use drugs and you wouldn't tell a grown man not to have a beer with dinner, so don't tell me not to smoke a little weed when I'm out enjoying nature.

The wording of the question on the form includes "stimulant".  So, coffee, tea, soda, energy drink consumers are technically prohibited from owning firearms as well.

The feds say we can't have guns. They don't allow us mmj. Screw them. State leos shouldn't have a problem with firearm ownership.
Talking about breaking the law, did you see the redistribution copyright at the bottom of that piece. Lots things we do daily are illegal.

It is against Federal law for any user or addict of a "controlled substance" to own or possess firearms or ammunition.

Fortunately the fed does not have the man power to take on every colorado citizen following the law of their own state's jurisdiction, nor do they have the legal right to go ahead and try and police them in their own jurisdiction. I guess we have these kinds of legal contradictions when the federal government no longer serves the interest of the people and instead tries to impose unjust and baseless laws in the efforts of a cartel funding drug war that makes ordinary citizens criminals and serves only the special interests of groups like big pharma etc. etc. How would you like it if the feds told you alcohol was a schedule 1, its caused more ODs than weed and its addictive properties are well documented. I think many people would resent the fed trying to choose what substances they choose to imbibe for mild recreation. F*** the federal government and its unconstitutional abuses of states rights and civil liberties. If it weren't for civil disobedience we would still have Jim Crow laws.

+1...and about the ibogane, it works. Not a pleasant experience, but effective. I saw it work on a smack junky friend of mine.

For the people of Co and Wash nothing has changed on the federal level. In Oakland we have had legal recreational mj on the books for four years. Since then I've spent hours in city hall attending meetings of the measure z implementation council. Until the feds come around they are going to have an uphill battle. The feds will do what they did in Oakland, and threaten state and city leaders with the RICO act. Practically, in oakland, a few thing have changed. A few measure z clubs have opened, complete with off duty leos as security. Oakland leos don't mess with them. One "z" club was raided by the DEA. Then again I don't know what they were thinking opening up across the road from the DMV. Allot will hang on how the various state AGs handle it. Hopefully they are more competent than Oakland attorneys.

Btw severe alcohol withdrawal can cause such dangerous drops in insulin levels that if addicts are not closely monitored during withdrawal they can fall into a coma and die. Heavy marijuana users going through withdrawal have been known to suffer severe cases of irritability. Hahahaha, quick get those pot heads some medical attention they're acting very cranky and moody. And so many of the anti-legalization (euphemism for idiots placed here) don't even think of alcohol as a drug. Even worse they leave there kids alone with pushers on tv telling their children to ask their parents to ask their doctor about this weeks perscription acne medication (may result in depression leading to suicide). We have a culture addicted to drugs, lets make the one that's least harmful legal.
