Saw a commercial the other day with multiple immersions in a fishing dry suit of some sort and it appeared a PFD was not used or even necessary . When I dove  , if I was to not wear my weight belt , I would float .  Do you guys wear a PFD while wearing a Dry Suit or a wet suit ? Also was thinking about NOT wearing the top half of my wet suit and just my farmer johns and a splash jacket plus booties , yes , no or ? Thanks , Dan

You wear one with a drysuit for sure. Most people who use wetsuits still use one. Not sure about Divers.

Dry suit and yes always wear PFD...always. Is has my radio, knife and whistle. Good stuff to have on your person should you take a swim and have the yak get away from you.

Not even a question until there's any kind of suit with Coast Guard approved flotation built into it: wear a PFD that fits. Even pro swimmers I know (#1 extla rarge) wear their PFDs on the water.

Back in the late 90's when my buddies and I started yakfishing offshore we only wore wetsuits.  We were STUPID!

Always wear a PFD.

I'm even wearing one while perch fishing from the beach right here. :smt005

I dont take it off except to don or doff layers, There is no point in not wearing it, the item is required, Buy a good jacket and you wont notice it is there.

I even have a built in PFD and use the extra one around my chest.

I fished for decades without a PFD but for one thing was in a lot better shape than I am now

Mine comes off rarely like if it's really hot and lake conditions, but always handy and always on in the surf

A wetsuit floats you but a PFD will keep your head out of the water if you were unconscious or just worn out

Back in 1995 I worked for a Jet Ski shop in Orlando.  I used to go out and demo Jet skis.  Well you do that enough you will get thrown.  And I did many a time, mostly to show customers how easy it was to get back on.  One time I put it in a hard spin and got thrown.  I don't know how it happened but I whacked my head.  Saw stars but did not go out cold.  I was disoriented for a moment or two, and I know that PFD brought me back to the surface.  I have ever since worn one on any boat I have been on, because it can happen that fast. I don't like to think what would have happened had I not been wearing it.

I always wear a PFD but if I were to become deboated and had to land in large surf I would rather have a wetsuit only.
