PFD while wearing Dry Suit or Wetsuit ?

I always wear a PFD but if I were to become deboated and had to land in large surf I would rather have a wetsuit only.

Interesting.  Why is that?  The guys that surf maverick's and giant cloud breaks wear pfd's for survival.  I'd think it wold only help to float better while getting pummeled.....

I wear mine with such regularity that even when I'm on my friends 21' Triumph I wear it.
I don't feel comfortable OTW w/o it.
Same with a seatbelt; I can't ride in a vehicle w/o wearing one. Feels too weird.

I do wear it with a wet or drysuit (of course not while diving).
Not easy to put it on while in the water...
